Why would you use more data abroad? - data is data. How much you consume really depends where you are streaming from 4OD/ipayer/itv/netflix/nowtv all vary a bit on how much gig they consume. OF course whether you stream in Standard definition or HD will have a big impact too/
Streaming on the lowest settings and I am using about 2 gb an hour in Spain and France. When using it at home it's uses half that.Dont ask me why.BUSBY.

Hi Lenny

I am now looking to fit a MIMO antenna to the motorhome, rather than a makeshift stick it up when needed and wiggle it around.
What has your experience of the Poynting been.
Is it Good, OK, Brilliant, Could be better, WOW or just alright?

Very good often in areas where we can't get a signal on the phone but the aerial will pull in a 3G.
Mine is the older model, new ones have more gain in the 800mhz bandwidth which is what they use in rural areas.

Hi Lenny
So you say there is a newer model, but when I click on your link I get the one I am looking to buy. I see there are other variants wit GPS etc, but have no use for that.
So is this what I should be considering?

A-MIMO-0003-V2-12 - Poynting 2 IN 1 High performance multi frequency antenna, max gain 5.8 dBi

I would go for the poynting 3 v2-15, model. It has 5 cables, 2 for the 3,4,5G LTE , 2 for wifi and one for tracker. The wifi it’s handy as you can pick up signal from some distance. When on modem mode, it’s still good as it broadcasts wifi using the antenna. I pick my van network from the back garden or inside the house.

I have got this one installed with a Huawei router and a Tree £16 sim card. Used it all August both in the North and South UK. Very good results.

The 5 in 1 is better, provides 2 antennas for wifi, even if you don’t use the gps one.
Hi
What is the advantage of having 2 antennas for wifi? The router I am using provides adequate wifi within the perimeter of my motorhome, why would I want more?
This a learning curve for me.

Geoff

I too am using the same antenna, connected to a Huawei E5776. Whilst not pulling in those upload figures tonight, we do have the ability to bring in live TV and Catchup via the Firestick. (y)

If your router can operate in wifi extender mode, the aerial will pick up a signal from the campsite wifi, or at home on the drive, or parked near a free wifi source like McDonalds. Could be useful if there's no phone signal.
