Just got back with our Dethleffs from SAP Doncaster. Had updated front springs and E&P levellers fitted. Delighted with the results. Van rides and handles much better and the levellers are decadence. First class service from Mick and all the team, plus a thorough and clear handover by Rick. So glad we chose SAP on recommendations from other Funsters. Thank you.

Purchased a used Motorhome with a part exchange good initial contact and after some friendly haggling managed to get what we considered a good deal after visits to 3 other dealers
We accept that we always wanted more than possible with our part exchange and another cheaper than possible but got a deal in the end this was our 8th so we have learned a few things
Found Oaktree helpful and mostly knew their stuff

Well Jim we were happy with them when we bought Maxine three years ago.
And we've had no trouble with her since we drove out of the gates that would need her to go back either even with the three years warranty they gave us. Though going to head that way soon to go to IKEA so might pop in for a coffee

Enthusiastic sales team who seem like generally nice people as well.
After the initial sales tour of the vehicle we were left to explore the interior and debate between ourselves the pros and cons so having decided we made an offer there and then. Over the next couple of days and a few telephone conversations we agreed the price and the deal was done with a firm delivery date that was very important for us. The most expensive Christmas present we have ever bought ourselves!
The handover on pickup was professional and comprehensive and the couple of minor issues sorted immediately.
If I was in the market for a motorhome I would happily use this company again.
Thanks guys.

We bought our Chausson Suite Maxi from Simon and Sian on the weekend they officially launched the Motorhome arm of Howards. In addition to the MH we were given a box of starter items (electricity cable, toilet fluids, smoke and Monoxide alarms). Things we already had, which Simon knew as we traded in our old van. We've had to go back for one or two things that went wrong unexpectedly (anyone else had to have a new fresh water tank because theirs split?) all of which were attended to as soon as we could arrange to get back to Taunton and if necessary with a night at Cornish Farm. Howards will certainly be our first call should we change the van.

So glad you can see the excellent service was not an overly keen start up show by Howards Motorhomes, the service is still at the amazing standard, in fact we are now on our second Howards Motorhome. Like you say would go nowhere’s else and I recommend anyone who is thinking of buying to go to Howards

Well, where do I start? It all began on this forum. I saw the Adria and said to Simon, I’ll be calling you when funds allow next spring if it’s still there! “Why wait till spring?” he said.
In short we exchanged details and he did a few sums and we struck a deal. So I’d just bought a motorhome without even seeing it, Their reputation had indeed preceded them.
Everything promised was delivered, on time, no flowers or gimmicks for Mrs Westy (possibly a ruse to hide any shortcomings)? There just weren’t any shortcomings at all, in fact they give out the essentials that’s of far more use. Overall we’re very happy with the service provided by Simon Howards Motorhomes. And I’d thoroughly recommend them, try them out for yourself, you will be pleasantly surprised

Five star service from Alan and his crew, needed a new fridge/freezer in our van, phoned Alan on Monday and was given a very competitive price and better warranty as they are the main Dometic distributors and they could fit it next day or Friday of the same week.

Took out old Hymer in to have the rooflight mended and saw the New One- and as they say the rest is history.
The new-to-us b544 had a lot of minor things that needed fixing; and the handover day took ages while they fixed some of the faults they had not done beforehand - but they had not fixed all of them so we had to arrange bring the van back. The staff were helpful and polite, the handover was excellent; we were met at the train and driven to the showroom to pick up the van. We were there most of the day and left much later than we had thought we would [but to be fair we were delayed on the day by the huge amount of stuff someone had placed into our old motorhome over the years ]
We have just taken the van back to get the outstanding things fixed [parts needed to be ordered] and overall we are very happy with the experience. Travelworld fixed all the little niggles [broken catches] as well as some bigger faults - we have not had the engine temperature sensor fixed as they needed to order a part- which is a slight disappointment as we had flagged this initially and it means another trip up the dreaded M6 to get there . The van was cleaned outside when we went back to have the snagging sorted, the final repairs took all day -but there was food available in the showroom and it was comfortable and quiet [ we worked on computers while waiting]

I used NFU for my car insurance for a few years.
They were way cheaper than my previous insurer to start with.
Gradually the premiums increased.
They were good while I was with them, and rapidly and efficiently dealt with a claim, and arranged a replacement vehicle while mine was repaired. I suspect that was why the next premium was then much higher, and they were not prepared to match A N Other cheaper quote.
They could not offer anything like a realistic quite for our van conversion, but that was due to other factors like Himself's job being made redundant and the company car disappearing. He hadn't had his own insurance and so, with my claim too, the premium was ridiculous. (Actually this was an issue with several insurers, not just NFU).

I would recommend them for the way they dealt with my claim.

They were VERY thorough in initially setting up the Insurance, taking around 45minutes on the phone to speak to me directly, not just an online form filling exercise. In subsequent years there was a "loyalty bonus" but it was not what I would call significant.

I do not currently use them, but I would certainly consider going back to them when I renew.

Sorry binned it. Useless no difference in water use. Found a cheap head on Fleabay from China. It has lots of minute holes which is great in soft water areas as it won't clog up. Noticed quite good water economy with it. Took a while to arrive as well!

We use one bought at Warners out and about shows and thought it good enough to buy a second one for home, it also came with water softn beads and works fine but you need to keep the small spray holes clear from time to time.

I just took out insurance with comfort for our 1st van we're collecting Friday. Very straight forward to deal with over the phone. Great price for a new, high value van and pleased with 9 months European use. Documents arrived the following day.

I was checking the small print though and although it says new for old for 3 years it appears that is only if it stays under 15k miles so probably more like a year and a half for us.

Bought our Safar Chef 2 after much searching and debating. Ended up buying ours with the grill plate, skotel, plancha and tapas pans

Looks a decent piece of kit and and easy to assemble. Not a lot to them but well designed and versatile. Putting it back in the bag takes a bit of a knack and a quick search on youtube but once you know it you're sorted.

Cooks fast and very easy to use. The v2 model has piezo ignition so makes it even easier. We ran ours off a small calor bottle but would be even simpler if you have a gas bbq point on your van.

The legs are short but some have overcome this by making extensions, we just put ours on a camping table.. Just be careful of the hose!

Couldn't really fault it as a bbq but would says its quite small. Our issue was my girlfriend is veggie so trying to cook everything at the same time and keep things seperated we soon realised it wasn't going to work. We really need the carri chef or next one up. Having to swap cooking surfaces and juggling things in the oven to keep warm while waiting for meat to cook meant bbq'ing was a slower than normal process

Cleaning the bbq was easy except the griddle plate as food was welded to it. I put oven cleaner on it in the end and put it in a bag overnight. Came off with some elbow grease and looks like new again. You can buy teflon sheets which some rave about to keep things clean.

So a great little bbq for a couple as long as both meat eaters. If having to mix it like us then a larger one may suit better.
I've had a subscription to the digital edition for a few years but cancelled it this year as I wasn't reading it. There are some good travel articles and excellent photographs but like probably every magazine things become repetitive after a time. However, for those starting out I recommend it, if only, like me, you keep the subscription for a few years. The digital edition is good on a tablet but does take a lot of data to download if you are away. It has a lot of adverts but it is easy to ignore them.
Looks good and on first glance through its glossy pages was tempted to subscribe. But soon realised its advert after advert. Pages and pages of dealers and manufacturers flogging their latest model. What I wanted was proper reviews and articles, back to back tests etc. Not brainwashing into upgrading. Some nice travel articles but for me is outweighed by the wasted pages I flick past. Did a trial subscription and cancelled it after seeing the first couple. Maybe its just not for me at this point, but at the newbie Motorhome stage we are I prefer Jims new magazine.
We bought a few items from this small range a few years ago to use at home.
We wanted smaller plates to encourage portion control!
The plates and bowls have been used daily for 2 or 3 years.
We did manage to break a plate but it was a straight drop from a wall cupboard to a hard floor.
A couple of bowls have stained/discoloured in places which surprised us, but as I said we use them all the time.
We use plastic tableware in the van as its always falling out of the cupboards!
I have used them for 12 years regularly for everything from full self builds to replacement parts.

It is well worth a visit if you are close enough as it is a real aladdins cave of parts and accessories for the self build and motorhome/caravan owner.

The staff are helpful beyond belief as well. They know their stuff and can give real technical advice on most stuff.

They are usually my first port of call for anything motorhome related these days.

Would not quote on me whan I wanted to attend motorhome shows as trade. I only use my van around 8 times a year for business use to attend shows but this is not possible with them.

OK magazine. What stops it being good is that reviews are nor real world real use reviews. Most people who write articles seem to be more like caravanners in my opinion, and dont have thet insight that comes from real motorhomers.
