DIY gas install
I needed some advice on refillable gas systems and an external bbq point .

I contacted Charlie at Autogas. Ideally, I would like to have the system fitted by him but too far away unfortunately.

With the help of a couple of photos, measurements and numerous stupid questions, He was able to supply me with everything needed for the diy installation and has even offered a supporting role for any help I may need.
Not to mention a generous % discount without being prompted.

You can’t say fairer than that.

Anybody looking for company who know their onions, look no further. They do “what it says on the tin”

A pleasure to deal with and can highly recommend.

What annoys me is when it says angle/slope too great so you have to use manual. If you can level it manually why can’t it do it automatically, not that clever

So we bought our very first motorhome, a new Autotrail Comanche in Sept 2018, total novices but heard great things about Mick at SAP and the EP levelling system.

So £4900 later it was fitted and has been 100% fantastic and i’d never give a 2nd thought about having it fitted again, Mick suggested that we have the system transferred to the new Rapido and as he was fitting everything else, Aircon, inverter, Solar and battery to battery charger it was natural to have it transferred across.

He even engineered new mounts for the rear 2 rams which saved me £900 so I really can’t speak highly enough of the level or service Mick and SAP provides.

Fitted to A class (our first MH) at beginning of August by SAP in Doncaster. We went straight to CMC site and the pitch was far from level. Worked a treat.

We've used it all of the time, even when pitches were level. Keeps the van nice and steady. Best results with it were abroad. Especially in Benidorm, when levelling would've been very difficult with ramps.

Ours has the remote screen which clips into the dash when not in use. There have been times when the auto self levelling was out of the range on the built in spirit level. That means we had to switch to manual. But that was fairly easy to sort.

Overall really pleased with it. Total cost isn't cheap, but we think it was worth it. We'd definitely fit it again to our next van. Would also recommend SAP for the whole experience.

aged 120 volt MSW inverter / charger unit - inverting failure (otherwise operational) - enquiries with unit service / repair agents in the USA suggest a possible 'straight forward' relay failure on the inverting side

early November 2021 - initial enquiry - reception advised a 10-14 working day turn around
mid November 2021 - unit dropped off to investigate whether inverting failure was terminal or could be repaired - would update me when looked at
early & mid December 2021 - called technical & reception seeking update on investigations, before Xmas please (replacement unit has a lengthy lead time from the USA, because of weight) - still awaiting response
mid January 2022 - called again - technical not available - reception requested I send technical an email enquiring about progress - duly sent - response awaited

Less than impressed so far
(appear to be knowledgeable in their field of work, but thus far customer support / liaison very lacking)

Great service and very reasonable price compared to the “other”company. First contacted Dee at Van Weight engineering on 4th Dec about up plating and today 29th Dec I have received my new V5 and vin plate. Total inc new plate was £160. Dee made the whole process very clear and straightforward.

David did some pipe work and Electrical work on my Van fitting new Victron gear etc. very reasonably priced and cleaned up some messy wiring from the original conversation.
Woukd I use him again, certainly, I have given him a schedule of works for completion over the next few months and I look forward to meeting up with him again.
You can be confident David and Claira have your best interests at heart and want to build up long lasting relationships with customers by offering great quality workmanship.

Truma Aventa comfort unit
Should really be 5 stars, but…..

The Truma aventa unit stopped working on the hottest day of the year and only blew warm air. Got on the phone to the local Truma agent who refused to even look at it “nah mate, we don’t deal with A/C“ so based on previous Alde experience phoned Truma near Derby. Took a while to get through as they were busy with staff off sick but promised to call back from the tech dept and they did. Chat over phone and got it booked in. In there at 9am and lack of gas was the issue but they can’t regas them here in UK so Offered an exchange reconditioned unit of similar age for a reasonable price and 6month guarantee. Job done. 2 weeks ago, switched on to try the heating function and a red light came on and the newly reconditioned and tested unit simply died.

Not being best pleased, I wrote to Truma and politely informed them with description of the failure. Very prompt return call and discussion over phone with it being booked in again. Arrived there today and they discussed it and showed me to their very well equipped waiting room. After a couple of hours their engineer came in and said basically that it had failed which was a disappointment to them so by way of compensation for the inconvenience and diesel used plus a bit of goodwill instead of putting in even a recent recon unit they simply slotted in a brand new one fresh out of the box, with a 3 year guarantee. Very happy with result as the outcome could have been a lot worse. Nice people to deal with and it pays to be polite to them. Free Truma large parasol appeared in a box in the van as well.

They did point out also that the original dealer installation was done by someone who apparently had little idea and the unit reinstalled was correctly done

We have used Vanbitz before when they fitted a “Strikeback” alarm for us.

Their professionalism, together with their pleasant attitude led us to revisit them when we wanted a solar panel and associated controllers fitted. A full discussion with them, by telephone, confirmed our initial thoughts and the appointment was made.

We have been impressed, once again, by Vanbitz. The installation has been done so carefully that nothing is visible, other than the edge of the panel itself. An excellent job!

The ability to stay the night before on Cornish Farm Campsite meant that work started could start by 0900hrs and was completed by 1200hrs. The 10% MHF Discount on the price helped too.

We will certainly return for any additional work that we need.

Recall on floor delamination at CUK

We booked our van in for a recall to fix floor delamination
(a common fault in Burstner vans built circa 2016).
My experience was very good and they did a professional job finishing off with a full valet. I was kept informed during the process and the job was finished on time.
I wasn’t the original owner but that didn’t matter either.

This is the Caravan and Camping Club Owner Satisfaction Awards 2022 in association with Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome

I felt it was a great achievement for one dealership having seen it on their Instagram account.

I have ordered a new van from them in May 2021, having no previous experience or knowledge, and they have been excellent in every aspect of our dealings. The van has not arrived yet so cannot answer some questions but they require an answer so I’ve given them an anticipated 5 stars.

The old adage, "if you want something doing, ask a busy person" holds true. We started looking at the possibility of fitting a lithium battery to our 2012 Bailey in Spring this year. After researching on the forum for ages, we opted for an Ecotree battery from Oaktree Motorhomes.

After a full discussion on the phone, confirmed by emails with Rob Matthews, we decided to buy and have fitted, not one but 2 110AH batteries, Victron MPPT solar controller, shunt and battery to battery charger as well as an IP22 mains charger.

So popular have these batteries been that Oaktree is booked until early in 2022. We were given a date for 10 November 2021 which suited our travel plans. We were offered space at Oaktree's conveniently located premises (just off J26 of the M1) overnight but opted instead to stay in a hotel in Nottingham.

When we went to collect the van this morning, we were collected from Ilkeston by Gary Walker the Service manager and given a full handover and explanation by Robert who had carried out the fitting. He had cleverly utilised the space under the passenger's chair to put the two batteries side by side. This had the benefit of making sure that the batteries are kept inside the van (and so unlikely ever to be subject to freezing temperatures) as well as giving us the space formerly occupied by the lead-acid battery. Outside locker space is severely limited in the 2012 Bailey.

Robert then gave us a full run-through of the Victron app necessary to monitor the activities of the lithium batteries and even linked the Victron gear so that the various bits of hardware know what each are doing. He made good the space where the old solar controller was situated and even fitted the new mains charger in the exact space in the distribution unit which housed the former mains charger.

Both I and my better half were able to understand everything and Robert was clear and helpful. If we need to contact him at any time, he suggested we simply take a screen shot of what the batteries are doing (from the Victron app) and forward it by email. He would then problem solve and tell us what to do.

Rob Matthews, Oaktree's director then introduced himself and provided us with some data sheets, prepared by Oaktree for use in the event that we ever need to re-enter the settings for any of the kit. He will also forward photos taken of the fitting which will provide useful assistance if we need to replace fuses etc.
The price we paid pretty accurately matched Rob's estimate and he honoured the Funster's discount even though, at the time he gave the estimate, the batteries were lower in price than when fitted.

All in all, from the welcome on checking in to driving away home this afternoon, a very positive experience. We look forward to enjoying the added capacity for going off-grid especially in these dark winter days.

We wish we'd been aware of Oaktee when we were looking to buy a motorhome but if we do ever upgrade the van, this is where we'll come.

Had 2 nds 100amp batteries, new solar controller, and battery monitor fitted. I already had a Sterling 60 amp b to b fitted.
Install went well and a tidy job.
Had the heating blowers on, t.v. And lights blazing away and haven’t got below 85% in a day. Very pleased

Had our van upholstered last week in just 3 days
Seats . curtains & flooring .with 4 cushions added as surprise plus asked just for curtains in lounge but they added another two sets in the bedroom area but kept to the quote given to us
Good funster discount they were pleasant to deal with and anxious that it was all OK for us
Would recommend.

Over a month and no quote
I asked for a quote at Lincoln show. Now November 2nd and still no quote. I have received two apologies after chasing but not impressed. Only three rectangular cushions!

Now 40 days since i asked for a quote. And another reply to say it will be ready in the next 2 weeks..... I won't hold my breath.
