Used him on Last three vans, guess where the dealers go to get the towbars fitted and charge you the earth? Contact Mick direct via his website or phone him, you can overnight on the Fylde and make a few days out of travelling . Very professional 5 stars
One of the worst companies I have ever had the misfortune to have dealt with.
As with a lot of companies, they are okay while everything is going along smoothly, but the test is when the sh*t hits the fan.
I had a not at fault claim for which Adrian Flux increased my premium as I though at the time the claim was still being processed and not settled, but in fact the case was closed before my renewal was due.
They also increased my wife's premium on her car as she was a named driver on my policy.
After a few months of phone calls and not having the case file to hand, with the usual ring back and the person who is dealing with it is not in the office today, I was finally informed that the case was agreed as a no fault claim before my renewal was due, so I wanted a refund for the increased amount we had been charged on both policies.
To cut a long story short, it took neatly a year of being fobbed off with excuses and they only paid up when I threatens them with the ombudsman.
Wifey had insurance with Flux some years ago as the kids were learning to drive and regular broker (Chris Knott) don't touch the young uns.
Car park crash in Tescos, 3rd parties fault. AF claims department were utter sh!te. Dragged on so long I gave up in the end and we got it fixed and paid for it. Would never use them ever again even if they were a zillion quid cheaper.
Sadly we only know how good they are when we need them.
Another for AF been useless. Getting a quote online then they up it over £400, dont ring when they said they would and asking the same questions over and over. Also dont bother if you were lucky to retire early as there computer doesn't like it and throws a spanner in the works !
What superlatives can I write that hasn’t already been written about this first class business ?
I can only concur what an efficient and truly professional team work for this organisation.
Arranged to have the Growler Alarm, Non-Starter, Battery Master and the GASLOW System fitted to my motorhome.
After spending the previous night at their wonderful campsite, Cornish Farm, run by very friendly and helpful wardens, I was greeted the next morning by a VanBitz and given a full rundown of the work to be carried out.
This work was duly completed in the day and a full explanation and demonstration of all the systems were given. As others have stated, all of the work completed in a very neat and tidy way.
I now have peace of mind knowing my motorhome is well protected from would-be villains.
My sincere thanks to every member of the team at VanBitz and Cornish Farm.
How the reason for Alan Kerr’s came to supply me with my Bailey Motorhome is a long one, especially as their dealership is such a long way from my home. But supply me they did with all the efficiency and professionalism of a first class dealership.
My thanks especially go to their Manager, Mr. Simon Jones for his major involvement in arranging the sale.
Salesman Mr. Josh Moore who picked me up from the Hotel, then gave a first class handover of the Bailey, followed by making a video of the handover, something I really appreciated.
And not forgetting the girls on reception who kept me supplied with hot drinks during my visit.
So far the Bailey has proved a very enjoyable vehicle, and one I am more than happy with.
I highly recommend this dealership.
Lots of advice and information exchanged (all easy measurements plus a weighbridge ticket etc...) Showed me the limits with and without modifications - all without paying a penny. Paid fee and they completed the paperwork that was then sent to me to sign and send off.
Really professional end efficient service. Within one week of contacting them I had all the paperwork back to send to DVLA as well as the new metal plate showing the new max weight. I'll put it on when I get a response from DVLA.
Check out their prices vs. competitors, you may be pleasantly surprised.
Had a Growler alarm and non starter fitted to my Motorhome last Friday. Didn’t take them up on the offer of a free nights stay on the campsite as I was working late the night before, so just headed down early in the morning to arrive at 8.30am as requested.
My wife and I had a pleasant walk into Taunton, had brekkie and spent the day wandering around. By 4 pm the van was ready and we had a very through handover which explained everything that had been done and exactly how to operate everything.
I had asked the guys that when they were working behind the dashboard to look for anything that would explain why my radio doesn’t get any reception.
When we arrived back to collect the van I was informed that the radio didn’t work due to there being no aerial! Rollerteam must have removed it during conversion! However the vanbitz guys kindly offered to fit one for me so my radio now works! Best of all… Free of Charge!!
I do now have a very annoying squeak from behind the dash somewhere but I’m hopeful it will be rectified fairly easily when I have a chance to have a look!
As an aviation engineer I appreciate the very tidy and clean workshop but also the standard of their workmanship including wiring looms. I have had my Motorhome on a ramp since the fitting and they have done a very good job of keeping everything tidy using conduit around the wiring looms and cable clips. I’m not sure the alarm is as loud as I expected especially considering there is 5 sirens. However on looking underneath the van the external sirens do appear to be very small.
I do now however have to remember to remove my dash cam as a couple of times it’s fell off the windscreen already causing the alarm to sound!
However all in all I would reccomend vanbitz highly
Very good service and happy with the alarm and campsite so clean you could eat off the toilet floor. I didnt coz my wife cooks in the camper . The wardens were nice and helpful and we couldnt ask for more. thanks for a good few days.
Van has been in today for cam belt, water pump, plus all pullys and tensioners etc, small service, brake check and mot. Dropped of van at 8-15 this morning picked up at 4-30. All work done with no dramas by Dave who is obviously a man at the top of his game and 100% trustworthy.
I thank all the fellow funsters who pointed me in Dave's direction. I have no hesitation in recommending him if you live near enough to carry out any work you may require on your van.
I bought a new Bailey 74/2 from Stowfords South Wales and it was delivered to me due to covid rules at the beginning of March!
We has spent some time looking at other models/makes at other dealerships in South Wales and were VERY impressed with the service and complete lack of high pressure sales at Stowford. The other dealers could not wait to take my deposit off me and were unwilling to show me models available.
The transaction at Stowfords was pleasurable and stress free!
The new van has had a few minor issues which have been or are being dealt with. Part delivery from Bailey is painfully slow but bit the fault of the team at Stowfords.
They have done what they can and chased Bailey on my behalf.
I have had two problems with the Peugeot bit of the unit, specialised bits which could not be picked up IMO by a motorhome technician.
Tbe main one was the fact the air con was NOT filled with gas upon leaving the factory! Peugeot refused to rectify this under warranty and I was presented with a £200 bill!
Stowfords immediately refunded my £200 upon my reporting the matter to them!
The second niggle is that the steering wheel is not aligned but has been fitted at 22.5 degree angle! Again Peugeot refuse to rectify this under warranty! I have made a complaint to Peugeot and await a response but this is not a problem that I would expect Stowfords to be able to rectify.
I would highly recommend Stowfords South Wales for price and service!
To buy a new moho or not?
Circumstances decided for us, Covid and the shortage of vans at the right price and size meant that there was nothing we fancied. And anyway we are very keen on our current van, its just that it is the base model (Pilote Essential) maybe a little more bling would be nice.
So this led to a trip to see the Careavan stall at the Peterborough Show and a chat with George. We’d used them before for a previous van and they’re fairly local to us. The chat led to a visit to the van, a quick look round and a quote, at a very good price.
Two weeks later saw us pull up to the workshop, not a place to attract passing trade but lively, helpful and with a real air of hard work.
Three days later we returned to pick up the completed van and the upgrade was complete - and impressive. The material was good quality, the finish was excellent the extras were thoughtful and “included”. One of the things I liked was that several of the team popped a head into the van to see their work in situ, a real sense of ownership and pride in what they’d done.
Many thanks to George and the team, we’re very pleased, and we’re definitely not changing now.
We bought a Bessacar E495 from Dolphin in April 2021. COVID lockdown delayed the process, but Andy was fantastic in providing regular updates on how the business was affected by regulations and how the sale could be progressed. A salesman you can respect for his friendly, respectful and communicative approach, Andy was great to deal with throughout the purchase process. A really good business stands out from others when there are post-sale issues to be dealt with (and with 2nd hand vehicles there often will be), so when we reported a few things we would like resolved a while after buying the van, it was great to have Sam (service manager) and Andy respond so positively and provide an outstanding service in sorting them out promptly. I can thoroughly recommend Dolphin Motorhomes if you are looking to buy a motorhome, their service is outstanding.
I use my old Electrobike while marshalling as I am challenged walking. So turn up at Peterborough get the bike out... No key? AHH!
Went to see the lovely people at AS bikes who were still unloading the van. With no hassle at all, replaced lock and key with a used unit so getting me going. Free! Flatly refused to take anything for his trouble and for a bike that must be five years old.
So ,after one year since fitting a strikeback alarm, system solar panel and a battery master , I can report it all works well, and their after sales support is spot on.
Fitting experience was as reported in other reviews; coffee, then discussion where the solar panel needs fitting, a lift into Taunton , and a briefing about alarm , it‘s switches and toggle when returned to pick up the van.
Questions that formed in my head on the drive home, were answered fully and quickly the next day by E mail.
After around 3 to 4 months of not being used due to covid , van started first time, no doubt thanks to the solar and battery master set up.
Recently the alarm system developed a fault.
Following advise from a telephone call, the fault was identified as a dodgy locker sensor. Emailed my findings and a new sensor arrived by post within 2 days. which I will fit.
Does it safeguard the van?
We were woken at around 4.00a.m, after the street lights were switched off , by our dog barking, and the sound of car running outside.
Looking through the blinds a car was parked at the end of our drive, facing the wrong way on the road . Drivers window open and voices heard.
I switched on the lights and off they went, very quickly.
Can‘t help thinking they were trying to get access to, or figuring out how to get into the van, but the flashing red light in the reversing light was spooking them, or any electronic gadetry they had was not helping them!
Other devices would have slowed them down, but thet never got that far.
Slept well, feeing reassured alarms and visual deterrents do work.
How could they improve?
Only thought I have is the red alarm dashboard light blinks brightly at night. With the blinds up at night, it cannot be seen outside.
So if they could locate it closer to the windscreen or on the A pilar it would act as a good visual deterrent at night, ( but of course I don’t know how feasible that would be.)
Defiantly recommend Vanbitz as a firm to spend your money with!
Johns Cross Service Centre - great work and flexible
Picked my motorhome up from John’s Cross on Saturday and couldn’t have been more pleased. I have been using their services for four years and they have been consistently excellent.
This year my major service was due and I had problems with my leisure batteries and waste tank outlet. They sorted everything out and I was very pleased to receive low damp readings throughout the motorhome. They even found me a specialist auto electrician who fixed my problem on their premises. I recently broke a rib and they kindly stored the vehicle for a few days so I could pick it up on a day that suited me.
I cannot recommend them strongly enough although they are so busy they might not thank me.
