We ordered our Sunlight T67s from Lowdhams at the 2019 motorhome show with a provisional delivery date of early February 2020.We all know what happened then so on the 3rd September we picked it up all the time being kept informed about it's progress by our salesman.
We were very happy with the deal and discount also the part ex figure offered for old van ,although it has to be said trying to squeeze extras out of them was like getting blood from a stone( or maybe I'm just a bad Negotiator?).
The hand over was one of the best I've had everything explained ,all questions answered fully no pressure to leave first class.
Unfortunately the van developed a fault on the second outing ,rang the service department sorted a time to drop the van off for repair which suited me despite the workshop being busy no fuss on problem just good service.
All in all A good experience.

I have had various different pieces of kit from Adam at MotorhomeWiFi in my current and previous two motorhomes. They have all worked well and no lack of advice from Adam when required. (In fact using their kit now to post this from a small village in the North of Sweden - says it all)

Highly recommended!

Bought 2 extra wides and they are great, so easy to manage when you do not wish a van with a permanent bed . We get them out of the bag and they just unroll ready to go . We bought the pack with spare covers and have no regrets at all . Pricey but you only get what you pay for these days, and are very comfy.

WHAT A SHAME!

I spent the whole of today on a journey to visit them today. I had been in touch with them several times to ensure they had the model I was interested in and had confirmed the price. Ready to spend upwards of £50k on a day van/camper.

A great start, even though the chap I had been discussing it with was too busy to see us, started the tour with Tony, the owner. Lovely chap who clearly knows the business. First problem was there was not a completed one with the configuration we wanted. Not the biggest issue, but annoying when I was told on Friday last week that there would be.

Then all good looking at the various models in production until we started to discuss the price. He said the starting price was £46k before options. The website says £40k, but I knew they had increased to £42k, which I have in an email from them on the 15th August! Tony says he doesn't know where that price comes from, but they cant do anything less than £46k.

I managed not to blow my top, but politely tell him I was somewhat displeased at making the tedious journey under false pretenses. He smiles and says that I should not have been told £42k.

The £46k+ would not have been a problem had it been honest and open; but this is not how it was.

I have just got back and double checked my emails. I am right:

"The brochure is slightly out of date now as VW have increased there prices on new vans

The price of a new Camelot starts from £42,000 inc vat on the road"

Absolute shame as I liked what I saw, but not a company I could do business with.

Back to the search for a good converter.

My current van was purchased new in April 17 when I part-exchanged another Hymer. The process was simple and the sales experience good. However, the aftersales has been worse than poor and I say to you all - go elsewhere for your purchase.

I have been back to them many times, the staff on an individual level were always friendly and polite but the service is poor.

The van was about 3mths old when the fridge packed in whilst in Germany. We made our way back and the van was off the road for 2mths waiting for parts.

On 4 occasions we've been in France (in the rain) when our wipers failed. The 1st time it was fixed in France. The 2nd time when back home I emailed them, they requested a photo. I sent them a photo and they said that they would order the motor. The van was later booked in for this and other work, but on collection, the wipers were not repaired. I was informed that " yes it is the motor and we will order one". So, back again for it to be fixed, round trip of 250 miles. The 3rd time was with the same fault, again back to Travelworld. The 4th time was in March this year whilst returning from Spain. I CONTACTED ANNABEL EDWARD'S IN MARCH, A WEEK BEFORE LOCKDOWN AND SHE IS YET TO GET BACK TO ME. I would remind them that according to the MOT, wipers are a safety critical issue and an MOT failure.

In 2018 the van was at Travelworld when amongst other things they did work for a Fiat recall. That summer I travelled to France to follow the cycling. Whilst climbing Alpe d'Huez, on the 21st hairpin the engine shut down. We waited 3hours for a breakdown, blocking the road and causing chaos. When we eventually got it fixed in Grenoble, they informed us that whist doing the Fiat recall, Travelworld had not refitted a jubilee clip properly and the engine had lost all its coolant!!!!!!

Oh, did I forget to mention 2019! Throughout its short life, the van has had problems with the habitation door. It has been into Travelworld several times and Hymer are so aware of the issue in many of their Van's that dealers retro fit a door-straightener. During 2019 I raised complaints about the door and got nowhere. In desperation, I left a poor review on Google maps and then in September whilst at the Spa GP the door failed and locked us in. Travelworld then collected the van and had it for 2mths to fix the door. Yes that's another 8 weeks to the day off the road.

Now at this point I'm feeling, nevermind sounding like a moaning old git.

I know that van's are complicated and when buying new, I expect snagging issues. There are other minor problems that I've had and not mentioned, I expect such faults. But there have been several issues that have caused significant problems and they have been compounded by a very poor service.

Caveat Emptor.

Terry

I had a row with them years ago and ended up telling the man in charge that his staff needed customer service training and he needed counseling for extreme narcissism. I stand by what I said then. I read a piece saying Hymer were looking to increase dealership in the UK unsurprisingly. It will be interesting to watch the merger of Hymer and Thor in relation to future slideouts in Europe and American led customer service.

So good I had to go back for more.

Vanbitz fitted a Strikeback (with a few extra bits) to my brand new Autotrail V-Line PVC Sept 2019. I have no idea where they went in the van to fit the bits, it was left immaculate inside. The only traces I know of are a couple of fuse connections in the dash fuseboard, a couple of switches on the dashboard for the internal movement sensor and rear cycle loop, the cycle loop connector by the tow bar and the warning LEDs (dashboard one is a bit bright flashing away at night). Oh and there is a very loud siren somewhere underneath, clearly audible from the wrong side of Fleet Motorway services when I set something wrong
Took plenty of time over the phone to understand what parts of their system would suit me, with no hard sales talk. Again on site a good run through as it was booked in for the alarm fitting to check my requirements. They ran me into Taunton centre (a couple of miles away), whilst they got to work (they can't do the drop off at the moment due to covid), and later showed me over the alarm's workings - top tip some ear defenders would be useful, it's why they have to be remote else neighbours would be complaining from the siren noise around 4:00pm every weekday

This time round (Aug 2020) was an upgrade to Lithium battery. I was struggling with Autotrail's pitiful 75Ah lead-acid. Two nights off grid, even height of summer, on a wet cloudy weekend meant I'd take that down below 11.5V. Lack of space in the 5.4m PVC gave no space for a second battery, so lithium was my realistic only choice. This was all booked in to be done in mid March, just as Covid lockdown hit so had to be postponed. Nick at Vanbitz kept in touch as restrictions started to lift and plenty of communications as we re-arranged schedules, slightly confused by availability of components as the manufacturer's themselves were emerging from lockdown.
Again, no pushy sales tactics, more a concern from Nick that what would be fitted would do the job to meet my needs. They knew the Autotrail / Sargent systems weren't adaptable, and knew I had no space for kit. Over phone had explained they had options for 2 small 60Ah Lithiums or one larger one depending on space, there would be a Sterling B2B and replacement Victron MPPT solar controller to suit the lithium. Went with the single 120Ah Sterling Lithum as that can take a heavier disharge so could power a 1000W+ inverter where the smaller batteries my be a bit limiting. On the day kit was retrieved from stores, tested to see where it might fit, and then showed to me in position so I could see what was what for final approval. Great when everyone was trying to stay separate from each other for social distancing. I disappeared and 4 hours later got the call it was all done.
As ever a neat install in the van. I've actually gained storage space as they've made better use of the rear bench seat spaces, even if that meant them running alternate wires. And they even corrected my dodgy install of a battery master. :oops2:

I don't plan on any more changes to my PVC, and I don't expect to change it for a number of years. But if and when I do, Vanbitz are the first people I'll call to sort out alarms and anything else electrical.

Oh and they have a nice campsite too (y)

Thank you very much for your kind words and letter of recommendation. Glad you are happy with the service you received and I'll pass the compliments onto the wardens on the campsite (y).
The joy of my Nextbase camera, is there is nothing to do. As long as it is connected, it silently records everything. If something causes a problem, the camera records it. Job done.

Bought a 3 year old Autocruise pvc from them, we dealt with Paul scroggin.
Reasonably impressed and would buy from them again.
After seeing the van in one of their adverts we arranged a viewing, and met Paul, he showed us the van, explained the main points and then left us to peruse it at our leisure. After deciding to buy we paid £1000 deposit and arranged a pick up date when the van would be ready.
About 5 days before Paul phoned me and asked full payment up front, I refused and said I would pay on the day, he accepted this.
On pick up the van had been cleaned and the extras we negotiated in the price had all been done, also a couple of faults had been rectified. The hangover was relaxed and through, all our questions answered, the stack of manuals had been separated into two plastic folders, one for Fiat and one for Swift which l thought was a nice touch.
On arrival home the wife said the oven was still a little bit dirty and so was the shower, apart from that it looked very good.
From this experience I would buy from them again.

We arrived the day before taking up the offer of an overnight stay at the adjoining site, Its a really nice place, in fact, immaculate and they made us really welcome. The installation work was very professional as was the briefing after the install was complete, strike back and growler are formidable and highly recommended if you want peace of mind that you have done everything you can to thwart those that want to steal your stuff. I recommend that you look at this package not the cheapest but you only get what you pay for.

Hard to know what to say. They explain what is to be done and then they do it. No hard sell, clear explanation of products, very tidy job completed exactly when they said they would. They even approached the covid restrictions with good sense and good humour. A problem free day.
We had fitted the Strike-back alarm system (very keen on the Cycle loop) and the MT Non-Start. I'll be much more relaxed in some situations now.

Thank you for your comments. I agree about the accessory protection circuit (cycle loop) Lyn and I are born again cyclists 😉 and would be gutted if someone nicked our bikes.
This company are great ,we only do gas they said and were right. But if you want confidence in the fitting of a tank full of gas under your vehicle..use a company like autogas 2000 who specialise and go the extra mile to do a great job .Friendly people as well and a great meal at the local pub as well.

Marquis Service Centre, Tewkesbury.

We had a failed rear-view camera on our Majestic 125 which had to be replaced under warranty. Once the “lockdown” was lifted we planned a trip to France. We like the camera in order to keep an eye on our scooter, carried on a trailer behind the motorhome.

With only three and a half weeks between the failed camera being diagnosed and our departure we had little hope of getting it fitted as manufacturers had been closed and the camera had to be ordered in. We explained the problem to Marquis Service Staff who, although they were very busy with post lockdown catching up promised to do their best.

With just under a week to spare before our trip they obtained and fitted the new camera for us, booking it in at a time for our convenience. At all times the staff were pleasant, professional and very helpful. We have booked our motorhome in for its hab check with them as a result.

Very pleased with their service.
