Living alongside "Offwell" woods, we are plagued with Tree Rats (Squirrels) ...
Bought and tried all sorts of, supposedly squirrel proof bird feeders, but even the double caged ones the little pest`s can get in and rip the innermesh to bits..
So what I have tried "AND IT WORKS" .. :thumb:
Got a length approx 1 mtr mild steel rod, and bent one end to go round a branch and tother end a little hook type bend to hang the bird feeder on..
A foot above the feeder I have put a rubber washer on,,, then got the plastic lid off a 5 ltr paint drum and made a hole in the centre and then another thick rubber washer to keep it rigid`ish....
Hung it from a tree out of jumping distance of the squirrel`s ..
And it works.. :thumb: the squirrels climb down the steel rod, step on the plastic lid which tips and they have given up...:thumb:
