I'm loving following your trip.
We were thinking of sailing round the Pelopponese at the same time you're doing the land route, but then realised the month we'd put aside between visitors wasn't going to be enough to do it justice. So we're doing it next year now and allocating ten weeks.
We're currently exploring Corfu and the mainland opposite.

For us too the memories are lovely but looks like many places now , more vans . Afraid to go back in case it spoils those memories of many years ago .

One of the things we like about travelling are the people we meet on the way. Perhaps surprisingly, Martin is the more sociable of us when away. He cheerfully greets each new neighbour in their own language, before reverting to his pidgin English! In Pilos he got talking to a Frenchman called Anton who was in Greece looking over a boat, he was hoping to purchase it as a retirement gift to himself. Although the boat was 40 years old it suited his needs for long distance rough weather solo sailing. An afternoon sat on the marina with a beer talking to this old salty sailor was memorable, of course enabled by his brilliant English!). He was looking at 4 boats all the same make but in Malta, Greece Croatia and Spain. Whichever one he purchased he was then sailing to Finland. He’d recently retired early and as his wife was still working and didn’t like sailing he was fulfilling his own dream. Interesting guy. Pilos was a pretty little harbour, marina and town square to while away a few nights.

Nice boat! The friends we've just spent a few days cruising in company with have a 33ft one. They're really well built and have a bit of a cult following. They were made in Finland for Scandinavian climes so sailing it back there is apt.

Met our first other British camper couple, he told us his life story in 5 minutes and said he wrote songs for Joe Brown cliffandger you would of loved him, sadly his musical experience was lost on us.

After feeding him for a few days we realised everyone including locals were feed and watering him, which could explain why he was such a friendly chap!

All the beaches are covered in this bamboo. Some even have diggers taking it away..they like to start early too!

Photos are lovely Dawn - you’ve certainly found some beautiful spots.

We’ve had a musical long weekend. The Uke fest in St Merryn was brilliant, and we’ve just got back from the pub where Dave, my ukey mate that hosted the fest, did a set with one of his many bands - the bass player used to play with Wham and the bongo drummer used to play with The Who! So I can match your Joe Brown and raise you a Who and a Wham!

Continue having a lovely holiday xx

hi Robert, we left a few days before, whilst there the police drove in twice, smiled and waved. However, there was a lady who owned a holiday cottage who asked us to not park beach front, we complied and passed the message on to any new arrivals, plenty of space so not an issue. The 14th was the start of the school holidays and the beach bars were getting ready for opening so perhaps it was that.

Just before the campsite is a harbour car park and overnight camping was certainly tolerated there.

There is plenty of water available and a cassette point if you look carefully at the first old campsite building on the left, in the front.

Stayed at Agios Andreas a few years ago (its on my map ;) ) but on a little parking area next to the old campsite, the campsite gates were locked at the time but you could squeeze through and empty your loo at the toilet block which was still open.
No problems with the police, sometimes they will move you on, sometimes they wave, that's Greece for you. :)

quite a few years now, and loving every minute..

love old doors, always wonder who lives behind them, just chuckling about the fourth one down with the round 'pet hole' at the top and who bent the bars to escape..

looks like you're having a fab time, not at all envious of your adventure..:pinocchio:

Ha ha, we’ve been found! We are thoroughly enjoying ourselves on the jetty opposite Limeni bay.

We’ve had a fabulous week with martins sister and her husband who stayed nearby. With a visit to spectacular caves at Diros, well worth the €8 entrance fee. 1.2km being punted around in a small boat by a grunting Greek man, what’s not to like?!

It was really lovely meeting John and Di today (Carole and Eddies cousin) and cliffandger you were in Benidorm together.
Wish we’d not just been snorkelling before that photo though!
Only our second British van in 5 weeks and funsters!
Hopefully our paths will cross again soon ...

We’ve been using the scooter to explore and it’s really opened up this Mani peninsula..

With trips to the market, fruit and veg van man, a couple of meals out and ouzo every night, snorkelling with turtles, we are living the dream and so so happy...
