Almost a Newbie but not quite now.
I am hoping that all who have tickets use them on there due dates. I have spent ages trying to book campsites for our 2-3 month staycation and managed to get in somewhere for the week before bank holiday weekend only by the skin of my teeth. DO YOU REALISE HOW MANY FOLK ARE REMAINING IN THE UK. Just not on. I expect all you lot to depart soonest.

We are/Were booked on the tunnel for Friday 28th for a month. oh well, the best laid plans of mice and men :(
We too for 5 weeks starting 1st September. My thoughts are if no Q introduced by the French we will still go as were in Frogland for less than 2 hours non stop each way and the only risk to us will be from the ferry crossing. I think France will introduce Q as soon as it has a plan in place in how do deal with brits arriving at ports from the U.K.

We are booked on the tunnel on the 26th August.
Thought we would be fine this time having already cancelled our trip where we were due to go in April.
we are supposed to be going to Crete.
I don’t think we can transit through France to Germany which was our intended route even though we weren’t going to stop as our insurances would be invalid wouldnt they ?
Us too! We would have been on our way back now from Greece & Crete meandering through Germany. So like you booked ferry again to spend 5 weeks in Germany, departing 1st September. We would be in france for less than 2 hours, non stop in both directions and will wait and see how France responds now the UK has put them on the Q list. I think they will react accordingly which will mean another cancelled crossing. At least DFDS are allowing for credits, re-bookings on our crossing which will be used for Greece next year ???

It’s just annoying as we know we would act responsibly and have done from the start.
Think you are right. France will ban us and that will be that. 😩

So lets say 4,500 infections and 45,000,000 people in the country. Thats one infection per 1,000 people or 100 infections per 100,000 people.
Your figures are incorrect. It is one infection per 10,000 people or 10per 100k(y)

Too much emotion and stupid comments around “Why on earth would anyone travel in this devastating COVID climate.” A certain sector of the population have been working very hard since the lockdown keeping what’s left of the economy afloat thus affording other sectors the luxury of enjoying safe furlough or self-isolation. So it’s a bit rich when they scorn would-be travellers who’ve kept them afloat and treat them as though they’re retards. The government advice has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with being seen to act tough on Johnny Foreigner aimed at people with very short memories.

For what it’s worth, the UK has twice the number of deaths recorded per 100,000 head of capita than Holland who we’ve decided are unsafe to travel to atm and thus require quarantining upon return.

And your comment isn’t emotive? It’s political as well, which is against the rules on here.

The decision has been made on the basis of the quantity of infections in the Netherlands & elsewhere, not deaths.

You are correct the Uk does have a higher death rate than the Netherlands, but the Government are making decisions on what the infection rate is doing now and how much it is growing. We have 19.8 cases per 100,000 across the UK, though some regions are a lot lot higher!
The Netherlands have 43.3 cases.

I feel it's more to do with getting everyone back here 2 weeks before school starts to save an outbreak and further embarrassment for Boris.

Far fewer people, unless the the French are midgets. Sorry to be pedantic; it’s my pet hate!
Then get another pet.. I understood perfectly what was meant.

Oh dear! Some "Funsters" seem to be going the way of "Twitters", spewing bile when others seem to have a different point of view.
Personaly, I agree with Stealaway and just hope that I am not prevented from traveling to France, Spain and Portugal in January 2021.
And yes, Spitfire, I have been tested and found to be negative ~ I even have a document showing that I AM/WAS negative but as another has quite rightly pointed out, that was then and who knows what may transpire in the days ,weeks or months to come?
If we are all sensible and follow the preventative guidelines in force at any given time, then with a degree of luck, the spread of the virus will be limited.
"Funsters", accept that others may have different points of view; you don't have to agree but neither do you need to be so aggressive with your responses.
