This is our view as we have our breakfast next to the Moho. And a lovely warm day forecast.

Mind you not for many of you funsters. Only 6ft between mohos (oh the danger). Wall to wall sunshine. Beach all of 10ft away. No Irish bar, all you can eat Chinese or wide screen TVs. People walking past smile and say bom dia. All sorts of languages spoken.

I am just off to dip my toes in the lagoon.

Its hell really........... honest

I know it's difficult but just bear with it...

You lucky people, we are in Croatia and the rain is of biblical proportions. Can't get to the bar without getting soaked

Oh and I forgot one further point. It costs an outrageous €4 a night.

Nice to see you got on the front, I thought we would as we arrived in the week, but alas.

If you're going south the old sports ground at Albufera is now only €6 a night including 6a EHU

We didn't when we first arrived late afternoon Sunday. But by the evening most of the Portuguese had lefy for home, so moved over. It was very much busier the weekend than the same time a couple of years ago. Full with over 40 mohos in the overflow area we were told.

Unfortunately we are heading north towards home.:cry:

@peterc10 that looks like my kind of place. Where is it please.

Looks very much like Foz do Arelho to me?

If it is then its getting pricey, was only €3 p/n a few years ago. :)

Pete

We paid more than that 2 years ago, think it was 6 e but can't remember if that was with ehu. A brilliant stopover.

I'm sure @peterc10 won't mind me telling you, it's Foz do Arelho on the west coast , the region of obidos.I think I'm right in saying its the largest natural lagoon in western Europe. We were there a month ago, took our inflatable canoe out into the lagoon and sourced our own mussells.Bloody gorgeous:D(y)

I remember the 'warden' at Foz do arelho whose stock phrase was "paradise at half the price" Lovely stop.

Looks lovely
Are you able to share the CC ref Peter
Hi Robert. As others have already guessed it is indeed Foz de Arelho, CC10004. 4€ without EHU or 6€ with.

For all those feeling jealous, you will be glad to hear that the wind got up during the day and the evening was quite cold. Looks cooler but less windy this morning and we will probably suffer another night here.

We stayed here last year. Foz do Aurelio. Found it on search for sites and a t 4€ a night (6€ with leccy) could be our favourite site for relaxing. Has the fish lady be round yet ? We bought some fab sardines of her.
Oblidos around the lagoon is a must visit walled town with a free aire just a 10 minute walk away.
Phil

Will be going to Portugal later this year, looks lovely this will be going into my list of places people recommend. Thanks all

Hi Pete we are heading there Wednesday from camping Lisboa, is it likely to be rammed?

Love it there, one of our favourite places. The restaurant Tibino is fabulous and a highlight of our last trip :)

Sorry JJ likely heading to Coimbra then Porto after foz but no pies. Never thought to bring any as the plan was always to go from Lisbon down to the Algarve, but wifey decided yesterday on Porto.:D

Jeez...

Funsters are at, or heading towards, parts of Portugal very near to Quinta Majay!

Do they have pies I wonder?

JJ
JJ, just pop into Foz de Arelho. The little supermarket in the centre of the village were selling your FB pies. Mind you they only had 8 available.

From Foz, a must place to visit is Fatima, absolutely mind blowing place of pilgrimage. A free aire but always busy at weekends but lots of parking spaces, worth a visit, not far from Foz, obidos is also another must place to see.
