Am I the only one who dislikes the use of the ‘popcorn’ reaction to threads?

All the other reaction options are positive. Not only does the ‘popcorn’ look like a dustbin, it seems to generally be used in that context as well.

Fully expecting an incoming volley of ‘popcorn’ reactions. :rofl:

Probably keep it for some of the EU leaders as it will get sticky before long.

The popcorn icon in my view is richly deserved from time to time for some posts in threads and a way of showing your opinion without resorting to a holiday in a midlands city.
So it is used as a negative reaction. I’m sure I remember a post from Jim a while back saying he only wanted positive feedback on posts.

<Broken link removed>

Not seen these icons before. I completely misread it, thought it was a love story gone wrong.
From left to right;
Met someone
Liked them
Yes, really like them
Having a great time
Chatted and swapped info
All is wonderful
Suddenly dumped
Broken hearted.

So what are they all about?

I'm a bit lost here. I know I'm a bit behind the times, but what is "popcorn" if it is not that horrible smelly stuff that people stuff into their face in the cinema (at least my memory isn't failing - yet!).

That's the first time I've noticed it Maz. Posts I dislike I normally ignore. Maybe they will have popcorn added.😂😂😂

It is used to indicate that you believe that there is going to be a fight that will be sufficiently amusing and long lasting to watch that it is worth eating popcorn whilst watching. Typically indicated by a GIF of Michael Jackson eating popcorn in a cinema.

Usually used when a controversial, but frequently discussed, topic is brought up, such as dumping grey water in fields, or FLTs getting tables out on the seafront and staying for three weeks.

This is Fun

Toilet threads usually produce some amusing posts. When you see it coming the popcorn one is worth giving :p

So in your view what does the popcorn icon represent ? a positive reaction to a post ? and if so please explain.
No, I don’t see it as a positive reaction to a post at all. I understand its use in threads that have been done many times before and are likely to run and run eg. grey water dribbling (deliberate pun :wink: ).

However, more and more lately I have noticed it being used as a reaction to posts to which this does not even vaguely apply. It seems to be used more in a dismissive sense, and effectively as a ‘dislike’ button.

Nope.....that didn’t work......or am I just heavy fingered? 🤷‍♂️
