We used one a few years ago. They have height and width restrictions but you should be fine. Post #30 on this thread has a brief description and near the end of post#24 above it has a photo of one, it's after all the photos from Monet's garden. :)

Yeah we are just upstream from that bridge, but thought we would give the ferry a go, just to say we had (y) ;)

The only decent (cow) steaks I have ever had in France was in the South and in the Alps.

Everywhere else just a mess of gristle.

Try this one then - far better than most so-called U.K. ’Steak Houses’.

Keating Steak & Wine House Saumur.

Spent a great summer evening there at the outside tables on the square with mates on a pre-Covid bike tour. If in the area a visit to the nearby AFV museum at Le Musée des Blindés de Saumur is well worthwhile.

Go for it, the current was very fast when we crossed. It was a different experience to one of the free ferries below Bordeaux across the Gironde I've used where the current is very slow.

Today we got up late went to the bar and boulongerie, came back and sat here all day , it really is a hard life in France.View attachment 618337
Do you think other vans are trying to tell us something, as they all go past these places beside us and park up the other end against the sewerage works.View attachment 618338

Yes, we’ve done it. We were travelling back from Hornfleur and decided to take the scenic route and noticed the crossing service and thought that would be interesting.
There’s limited places for you to turn around once you get on the approach road down to the terminal ramp and cars usually queue.
We joined the queue and boarded no problems but at the other side (Port Jerome) the ramp was quite steep and short. We got stuck!
The ramp was wet and our 9m tag couldn’t cope. The ferry crew were brilliant and reversed back to ease the ramp slope and with plenty of wheel spinning we made it to cheers from the French sat patiently behind us.
Turns out our tow ball took the brunt of the ramp and saved the back end of our Motorhome bodywork.
I don’t think that you’ll have any issues in your Traffic.
From memory, the side you are currently on is nicer than the opposite side which was industrial

Honfleur is very attractive , very expensive - small beer and a bottle of water = 9.50 euros 5 years ago

once biten twice shy - I won't be back!
Me too, once bitten twice shy. Last time we stayed there we took the took the dog for a walk, went to bed, windows open and I woke up in the morning covered in Mosquito bites. My legs were a mess covered in great big red lumps

Are you allowed to eat lions? Thought they were protected 😁
Great big slab of raw meat slapped on my plate and the waiter chucked the plate at me. He must have had a bad summer with tourists as it was mid September in Bandol, South of France and he had a real problem with me. He spat out "you Swedish" I suppose because of my blonde hair and pale skin and I said, No English. Should have kept me gob shut, I am convinced he spat on my dessert :cautious: spent the next 3 days on the loo :crying1:

I've never knowingly eaten cheval but remember a girl at work in the late 1960s telling us all she'd visited her French penfriend the year before. Her dad was Mayor of Poitiers at that time and they'd gone to their holiday home in Royan for the summer and they'd just had a lovely Sunday roast so she went in the kitchen to help with the washing up. She said what lovely roast beef it was, at which the family were indignant as they assured her it wasn't rubbishy beef but cheval of course! Think they were a bit insulted until she explained that we don't eat it in England. Anyway she said she would bat an eyelid eating it after that, and said we all ought to try it before we knocked it! There were always specialist butchers selling it, dunno if that's still the case or what - a bit like not all butchers here having Game Licences I suppose.

Not near where you are chaser, but we've certainly been across the Seine nearer to Rouen on one of these ferried and I said to Pete, Oooer, will we get on and off it OK d'you think? and he said Well I obviously dunno for certain but considering there's a ruddy great combine harvester queueing on the other side to come across here, I should think we probably will!

2020 was best,,both France and Spain were deserted. BUSBY.
I agree

we went in 2020 as well and you could more or less rock up anywhere, be it site, camper park or aire and you were welcomed with open arms.

2020 spoilt us imho and unless there’s another pandemic I doubt i’ll ever see the likes of that sort of travelling again, it really was a lovely trip

We have been here a week and we have got back into the old routine, move a bit, park a bit, no motorway no plans, we have got to be back in gravelines on Friday though, so got to head that way, but a week is not much use here, it will be at least a month in September, we have only moved about five miles today after two nights parked up, we would have probably gone further but the ambiance and the bottles of wine decided it for us. (y) ;)
