Morning all,

Went for a walk yesterday along the prom prom prom at Roquetas de Mar,

For any FLTers out there in want of company I can inform that there were approx 90 vans on the land adjacent to Calle Abla which is at the northern end of the town next to the beach.
In addition there were half a dozen vans on the Southern side of the rambla.
Stay safe

A piece of useless information. Unlike other places the fine for illegally parking on the beach at Roquetas is 30,050€ .Yes that is thirty thousand & fifty .Wonder where they got that amount from?

Before owning motorhome, I used to go Roquetas fairly regularly. There used to be a lot of flies, but that said it was nice place to spend a few days.

Parking by the beach at Roqeutas de Mar isn't new.

These pics were taken in January 2008. :giggle:

Perhaps the flies were attracted to all the crops grown in the plastic greenhouses that surround Roquetas?

We've only been during winter, and not too much of an issue then.

We liked the place - have stayed in hotels there a couple of times. :giggle:

It may be free but at best it's a muddy piece of land with no services. The Mayor said a couple of years ago that he wanted to stop all parking there and a height barrier was put up for some of the area. A smelly part of the salt marsh close by.
We go to Roquetas each winter and shock horror we pay to stay on the campsite:LOL: at the enormous cost of around €15 per night.
But just think what you FLTers are saving by parking between two Germans with no sanitation or fresh water...... no thanks.

And in other news, I walked to the Western end of the prom today.
There were two groups of approximately 40 vans esconsed there.
They were parked each, in a tarmac car park with fresh water nearby.
Our camperstop is relieving them of €5 to perform a service.

Those photos are of Serena Playa (I think). It’s at the southern end of the town

We parked on the roughish area at the north along with a lot of other vans. After a couple of hours we moved to Serena where we had a peaceful night along with a few neighbours. Much nicer IMO

Not my idea of a lovely place to spend Christmas. I totally understand the free camping idea, but why oh why not go somewhere quiet 🤫

Totally agree.

I love Freedom Camping but the 'Free' is not about the ££££s it is about free of people and other things.

That looks like a nightmare in waiting for me.

Hi Derek, How are the PC charity raffle tickets selling?:xThumb:
Just been on good old Google Earth found this picture((see below) and thought, enjoy it while you can, I cant see this being tolerated when more apartments/residents have a say, especially as it looks like many are there for the long term.
As always I dont think some people do themselves any favours, unless there are restrictions or laws/fines imposed, they will just carry on regardless, sod the authorities until there is a crack down sadly.
Have Fun, enjoy your travels & stay safe.

Yes, the drinking water fountains and toilets that are open. Ugh!
And we've seen where the cassettes are emptied... also yuk!

How s it for room on the camperstop Derek? Bonterra is only about 50%

It's more than full. There's a PVC parked up (not in a bay) waiting for this Funster to leave tomorrow.
I don't think they have spaces going forward but I will ask if you want.

TBH - If that was all there was available for parking I'd pack up motorhoming.

What PC Charity Raffle Tickets?

That all bunched together type of thing would not suit us one bit.
Now the ones all alone i can see us doing that.
But each to there own i suppose.

I know that Derek, I was only joshing you, as we have never been on a meet with you & Mary, when you were not raising money for the PC charity, and we know how good you are at that normally.
When I think about it, You might be missing a great opportunity with all those Germans, & Frenchie's maybe?;):giggle:
Best wishes, have a great Crimbo & New year.

I think you're making a lot of assumptions. Ive stayed at roqueatas a few times . Granted ive not seen quite as many vans as in those pics and there are bits you can park away from everyone else....ive done it.

But there are several drinking fountains for water and as far as i could see there was no waste or rubbish dumped around. Most if the vans drove to a nearby aire to dispose of waste. Campers around there are certainly not a new thing and over winter they seem to be welcome or like other places the police would have cleared them out.

Not my cup of tea being parked in amongst that lot ...but roquetas is a lovely town with a great beach and lots of bars and shops etc which im sure benefit quite a bit financially from most of those vans
