It is when you make a cup of tea and only realise that you still have your mask on when you drink it Is when it gets really embarrassing........... so a friend tells me :whistle2:
I was doing some carpentry with a face shield on; I couldn’t work out why I wasn’t blowing the dust away!🤔

Incidentally, has anyone done a cost/benefit analysis of the lockdowns compared to the economy, child growth, cancer, jobs, furlough?

Loads of people have done the cost benefit analysis, as you well know. It is continually studied and modified by statisticians every day.

I honestly don’t know why you asked.......

Or when trying to go though some paperwork and naturally put your finger to your mouth to dampen it to separate pages ... also passing on info from a friend .... :imoutahere:
Many months ago my wife had to go to our local hospital for tests, I accompanied her and took a paper to read, I ended up laughing to myself as I tried to turn the page, first I went to wet my finger, couldn’t as I had my mask on😂, then went to blow on the pages to separate them 😂😂😂 decided to put the paper away !

We are off to a site for the weekend and meeting up with Sister and BIL in their motorhome , we have all had both jabs and us two had the virus in December.
We normally spend time in each others motorhomes in evenings to sup a bevvy or three and on the face of it should be safe to do this now but it’s contrary to the covid regulations , should we and would you??

Just noticed that in the USA the Centre for Disease Control has said that any fully vaccinated people can meet together indoors, without masks or any distancing.

So which scientists have the right answer I wonder ? UK scientists, say stay apart. USA scientists, say live normally.

One of the government sage bods on BBC news says that people that have had both jabs meeting others that have had both jabs are at an infinitesimally small risk. So for me, why not? I’m sure there will be others on here that know more than the SAGE bod though.
At some point we do need to start living again, otherwise what’s the point?
You don't have to know more than SAGE but you do need to know the law.

I think JVT said the same the other day however the UK government has stated we will all move forward together.

On and off for many years.
I'm planning on going to my parents on 3 June which will be 3 weeks after my second jag if the timetable is adhered to.

I have seen them once in over 12 months and that visit was an emergency when Mum fractured her spine and I had to sit with Dad whilst she had her scan - no one from Social Services available and he couldn't be left. Mum was going to cancel the scan so it wasn't as if I had a lot of choice .....

If the rules say I have to stay outside I will do so but it will be so difficult to explain to Dad.

Do you have an awning or quest shelter then you could sit inside with plenty of ventilation, I would think that’s within the rules as people from 2 households can share a pod at a pub.
Can you tell me what a “quest shelter” is please?

Possibly if you are in the States you would respect their recommendations/laws and ditto whichever part of the UK you are in.

Well now the NHS send out free tests... you can be pretty sure that you're both immune & not a carrier.

But hey, let's not common sense get in the way of petty & illogical rules.

Paranoia rule ko.

What's the difference between 16th & 17th May ?
You need to chill a bit more and take time to understand the logic of what has been put in place - timescale, research, the 5 weeks analysis of infection rates etc etc - not too difficult to understand particularly if we want to be in a place in a relatively short period of time to have our freedom back. Don't try to think too much just get on with it so we can all benefit.

God forbid that ordinary people should think for themselves eh ? Let's all just obey the orders.

On these forums? I have been away from MHF for a while, so I am not up to date. However I feel this thread shows an unremitting apathetic acquiescence to lockdown, such a contrast to the almost anarchic comments in the Telegraph.
I am so surprised because I thought that Funsters, being the sort of people who charge off round Europe and the rest of the world, would understand risk; two couples all vaccinated not sitting in a van together?FFFFS! Maybe you’re all caravanners manqués.

Still, to quote the old saying “Hooray, hooray, the 1st of May, outdoor sex begins today”! (But only between groups of up to six consenting adults, having made a full risk assessment, wearing appropriate PPE and socially distanced.)

As I said, the risk is being constantly evaluated and like a lot of other funsters, I am at a vulnerable age and really don’t fancy dying by drowning in my own body fluids. Your choice to do something else? Fine by me. We all analyse personal risk

Maybe part of the reason some are more cautious is because the average age of those on the forum will be higher than the general population and/or many have health issues. IMV being unwilling to take more risks than are advisable isn't anything to do with 'unremitting apathetic acquiescence' but just being sensible. At present if I caught CV I know full well I would likely end up in hospital in a very bad state, and this is despite having had my first vac, so you do it your way I'll do it mine.

It’s not being cautious as much as being sensible, respectful of others and law abiding- splitting hairs but ‘cautious’ seems a term more related to a nervous disposition. Actually having read again what you said it’s what you said!

I think people of a certain age are just more law abiding, they'll moan about it, but not break it.

If the laws were enforced fairly there might be more that comply.
When you see a group of 150 Travellers attending a funeral, politicians and the rich and famous not prosecuted do you really wonder why some of us break the 'rules'?
