We are off to a site for the weekend and meeting up with Sister and BIL in their motorhome , we have all had both jabs and us two had the virus in December.
We normally spend time in each others motorhomes in evenings to sup a bevvy or three and on the face of it should be safe to do this now but it’s contrary to the covid regulations , should we and would you??
One of the government sage bods on BBC news says that people that have had both jabs meeting others that have had both jabs are at an infinitesimally small risk. So for me, why not? I’m sure there will be others on here that know more than the SAGE bod though.
At some point we do need to start living again, otherwise what’s the point?

Why can’t you just be patient for that little bit longer. It’s nearly the 17th May.

Maybe I won’t bother to obey the rules when I’m giving the AstraZeneca jab tomorrow, I’m sure I don’t really need to bother. I’m sure it’s all a conspiracy to make our lives difficult.
How are we going to tell the virus that it can no longer infect people indoors after 17th May?

No defo not, not me.
Im going to my static tonight and have arranged a drink with the site owners daughter for outside tomorrow, with strict rules that there will be no inside, if the weather turns cold its home time not inside time.
You have to set an example in my eyes

Since 1964 Gosh that makes me feel old.
This is why I got into the habit of keeping my facemask on until I get back to my van. I sanitise my hands after offloading bags into van, then remove the facemask.
Exactly as it should be done mate.

During some training for proper respiration masks during the bird flu we learned a real lesson, it turned out that our instructor had the cameras running & every last one of us fidgeted with the masks, rubbed our noses & generally made a mess of our hygiene.
It was the best way to learn & made it all the more interesting when masks started being used during the current pandemic.

My message to all is, just bide your time, stick to the rules & we will get through this.

No, you shouldn't and no we wouldn't. You may be immune, probably, but you've no way of knowing if any of you are carrying the virus, whether one of you may transmit it to the other and who you might then pass it on to over the next ten days or so that hasn't had the benefit of a jab.

Well now the NHS send out free tests... you can be pretty sure that you're both immune & not a carrier.

But hey, let's not common sense get in the way of petty & illogical rules.

Paranoia rule ko.

What's the difference between 16th & 17th May ?

I've had both doses of a Covid vaccine and if you've had both doses too then what would be the risk if we met indoors?
Clearly, it would be completely against the rules in the UK for next few weeks.
However, England's deputy chief medical officer Prof Jonathan Van-Tam said such a gathering would be "incredibly safe".

You want to do something which technically might be legal but demonstrates a complete lack of understanding (to mention intelligence might flirt with Coventry), let alone a moral or social compass?
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

Stay home.

So all that telling people to stay home, now you're jabbed up you think breaking the rules is OK?

I’m guessing from reading the last few posts we’ve stopped believing old Van Tam of SAGE fame. Perhaps his thoughts don’t fit with theirs anymore.

But you or I could be carrying and pass it on to un protected contacts. Once vaccination programme is complete the risk will no doubt then be minimal.

This Covid 19 is very clever it must realise it has to disappear on 17th May 2021, or do you all want another lockdown if it is still around.

Trying to book up with my mum in her caravan. We will all enjoy some time in the sun if it’s about or sat outside. But then again they’re all part of bubble so we have been indoors together anyway

Did I say that?

I'm just questioning whether the rules are appropriate.

Quoting me from 5 months ago is below the belt... and irrelevant.

The vaccination programme has changed the playing field.

It will never be complete, how many thousands of people will not have jab including children who could possibly still carry it.

What proff Van Tam says doesn’t now fit their views so, although his word was good when it did fit their view it now doesn’t.
You will see this happening many times in the next few weeks. As we are guided by rates not dates.

I think it will have once it's complete. Hence the dates set for relaxation of restrictions which haven't yet been reached.

Since day of one all the lockdowns, my family and I have adhered to all the rules and advice given by the government.

We are model citizens.

Yet I see sports seem to be exempt, tuppeny hapeny 'celebs' doing there own thing, even MPs 'accidently' breaking the rules... with little or no comeback.

You know what? I'm thoroughly p*ssed off with being taken for a mug, so I'll use my loaf and take my own 'chances'.. and don't worry, I'll keep me diseased body away from you all.
Just keep your body away from others that you know too UNLESS they agree you can go near them and accept the risks that go with it, no matter how low.

Its not irrevelent at all. A few months you castigating people for breaking the rules, now you seem happy to break them.

The vaccination might have changed everything for you, but there are millions who have not been vaccinated yet, lots of young with underlying issues, lots of pregant people etc. Our rates are low and getting lower, but people are still getting infected, a vaccinated person could infect someone who is not vaccinated, lets follow the program that the experts have laid out, we'll have our freedom back soon enough.

Once nearly everyone is vaccinated they'll start getting all worried about a mutation that might not respond to the vaccine and we'll be locked down again by winter 🙄😏

Again:
Where have I promoted breaking them?
Just questioning the relevance given the current facts.

If both parties are fully vaccinated.
If both parties have negative rapid tests (not readily available Dec 20)....
The the risk of contracting and/or passing on of the virus is minute...

...but of course currently no permitted.

That's a rather disingenuous, if not a rhetorical question.
Most people appreciate that the defeat of the virus is a process over a period of time rather than an event and success of the process requires people to observe the rules.

Time is what keeps everything from happening at once ;). (Mark Twain).

That could easily be true, but the bods in Oxford don't seem too worried about mutations they reckon they can modify the vaccinations quite quickly. But to be on the safe side, don't waste any time when they fully unlock :D
