Disconnect EHU - usually before leaving my drive. Driving from Thirsk to Newark with the trailer handbrake on (total hubs rebuild on site at Newark).

once drove off with the dog tie out attached, good job the dog wasn't still attached

once drove off with the flag pole still attached to the rear ladder and flag on it... it met its demise under a bridge somewhere in France

Too many to really list.

Still had the fridge running on Gas,
Roof lights open,
EHU still connected at home, Lucky for me EU plugs just pull apart quite easily (y)
Cupboards not locked shut,
Toilet shutter thingie still open,
Toilet door open, it shuts with a bang when you brake,

I am sure there are more but I learn something new everyday.

Check that the solar panel we discussed at length with the lying scrote of a salesman was actually on the van before we drove away from the showroom.

Unhook EHU, but now get co pilot to do all preflight checks.
Pre-flight checks are a good thing, it’s so easy to miss or forget. If my lotus’s etc have been laid up for a while I have a check list in front of the Rev counter and Speedo including in bold DO NOT START as something will be connected that needs disconnecting before firing the things up.

That first pic made me laugh.. and similar to what happened to us.
Left my pants 🩲 and a few other things on the back of the van while driving through the beautiful town of Oberammergau. We only knew because we took a wrong turn and had to double back - there on the road were the pants that had flown off.
A few tourists were around as the other half stopped, I ran out and picked them up, hopped back in and shouted, “Go Go… “
We still laugh about that every now and then :X3::LOL::LOL:

It's the fridge that does it for us.
Tomatoes make a horrible mess.

Done the TV aerial thing once as well.

Nothing dramatic although lockers have been left unlocked to spill contents at the first roundabout.

The embarrasing one was after a mile or so on a trip, having to drive back to the house because I was still wearing slippers instead of my shoes.

We used to take a solar radio with us and I'd pop it on the roof to get the full sun. (you know where this is going don't you 😂) All was OK until I left it there on our next drive. At the next stop I couldn't find it and decided to check the roof, there it was, just flopped onto it's back and hardly moved 😎

As I posted one before, we once drove off with the dog's lead hooked onto the towball. We thought everyone was just being friendly, waving and shouting at us! ( The dog was fine- just a little out of breath!)

And .........
Not locked fridge door
Not set fridge to 12v
Left the TV aerial extended

I use a check list now!

Driving down a narrow French road, looked in the mirror, offside rear window wide open, had to despatch 'er indoors to shut it quick before any trucks came the other way.

Drove from campsite to Brecon about 10miles , parked up had walk and when returning to van saw satellite dish still up.
No damage luckily, won’t do that again, got a dome.

Many years ago when we had a vw camper Devon I forgot to put the rubber lock hooks down for the roof and as we set off driving past the angel of the north I went over a bump and the roof flew up I got a lot of strange looks before I could stop and fix it 🥸

Im surprised it did that, mine auto retracts as soon as I turn the ignition on

Mine was an old semi automatic one with no such luxury

We forgot to make sure the fridge was locked shut. We went around a bend, the door opened, and a large plastic bottle of milk fell out and split. Not recommended.

I went on holiday this summer and left my gas locker keys at home. Had fortunately left the gas online and managed to last two weeks albeit nervous about using the BBQ.
Have also driven with my step out despite the visual and audible warnings.

Had lots of lockers not locked and banged around.

A customer of mine had a BIG motorhome and it had a massive rear garage door that raised up on rams. He had only just got it and on their trip in it didn’t secure the door down, so as they left their village the door came open taking out a road sign, then hitting a telegraph pole, smashing the door completely off.
My job on the next working day was to collect the door.
The motorhome was then sent back to dealer and never seen again.

We also have a check list for checking the house before we leave: windows locked, fridge emptied, TV and computers turned off, but most important, washing machine and rubbish bin emptied. Once had to phone keyholding neighbour as we had left fish wrappers in the bin and another time the last minute washing was still in machine!

Once thought I had started my dishwasher and could return to clean dishes. No came home to 2 week old dirty dishes, took 2 washes and a dishwasher cleaner to get near normal.

I’ve learned to pack the eggs properly since opening cupboard door and them splatting over the floor. 😂
