Just returned from Calais on the Eurotunnel, lots of temporary barriers after passport checking but no sign whatsoever of anyone checking for duty free goods. Nothing either at Folkestone, drove off the train straight out onto the M20.

So where is anyone or their vehicle being checked for over limit drinks, tobacco or goods?

My experience today points towards interest only in drugs (steering wheel wipe) and migrants (three French border guards checked our moho) plus the usual check to turn off the LPG.

Has anyone been asked about duty free on the tunnel?

BTW Pidou Calais was "temporarily closed" yesterday, looked more like permanently closed to me. Calais wine superstore completely closed and Majestic looked like they were closing down as well.

We came through late last night, no checks apart from passport by UK border control and passenger locator form check (unless she pretended to check it 😁)

Didn't see any migrants but we wouldn't anyway because we came straight up the motorway and into eurotunnel, there's no way we're even letting the wheels stop turning in Calais after last year.

By the way, I found a great 24hr self service garage at Cucq. Was 2p cheaper than all the others we saw in France at 148.9/L
We Also stopped at Rouen carrefour 200km South of Calais for a migrant free shopping experience 👍

Thanks. We saw around 12 migrants near Pidou and Auchan petrol station in Coquelles. Sign on the A16 Calais motorway near the ferry terminal junction warning of "pedestrians and debris in the carriageway " in English and French.

Auchan at Boulogne was migrant free but beware the major roadworks at the A16 junction. Diesel €1.51 litre

We too entered at Calais this year with no search and 3 on the way back. More to do with illegal migrants than goods from the way they were searching. It was not an issue for us, treated with respect and happy to cooperate

Sorry, read this straight after reading the news about the migrants today.

It wasn't a dig at you in anyway so apologies if it came across that way.
The ugly truth of this is that we can't stop them from trying and France is unwilling or unable to prevent them from crossing and it will continue.

Exiting UK onto Britanny Ferry customs searched everywhere even the bed and waste bin but never looked in the garage. Arriving in Santander they stamped the passports scanned the QR codes and we drove straight through.

I assume you meant UK Customs.

Why would they be so interested? I cannot imagine what laws a traveller can break if exporting anything.

Majestic have announced they have closed both Calais & Coquelles, I do not expect Calais wine to reopen ;-(

We used the vets in Nuefchatel en Bray can book online. Maybe not the cheapest €37 with own tablet but very straightforward.

Just over the border in Mons, we used this vet for tablets and pet passports, lovely lady with good English and easy parking outside for large M/H.
