Will any of you lovely people be thinking of reducing the miles you travel to a site or rally.
when the rise in fuel comes..???

Me personally, it will not make a lot of difference as we have decided if we carry on to limit to about 100 miles from home..

I feel sorry for those who have scrimped and saved to buy a motor-home to tour and enjoy the outdoor life..

So on our next trip to say Thetford from Macclesfield ,would you expect us to stop at Newark instead for the trip duration which is about the half way mark for us. Just to save a drop of deisel.

Yes, I probably will not travel as far, or once getting to an area spend longer in that area before going home again. Will I travel 150 miles to a area for 2 nights then home again I doubt it.

No.;)

We have been thinking of, once the initial long journey has been made, travelling a short distance each day, 20 miles can introduce you to a completely new area.
This can lead to a small difficulty if, like us, you predominately use campsites as most times we have to be out by 12noon, or as in the case of Cliff House Holiday Park we used this week, by 10am. Then we are not allowed into the next until 12noon, or even 1pm or 2pm. Having an 8 metre motorhome can present difficulties parking in urban areas.

Question aimed more at the poor hard working bloke who has saved so as to give his family a bit of luxury and down time to unwind...

It`s them that I feel sorry for...

Not you rich OAP`s.... :giggler:

In that case, I would forgo 1 pint of Guinness, and put a little bit more fuel in,,,,,but only 1 pint😂😂😂

We are not so rich that we can afford to give computers to the poor and needy of Grimsby.

So as you are indicating, fuel for your Motorhome has risen by 15 pence per litre.
so at an average of 25 mpg it will now cost you 70 pence more for 25 miles , or £7 Per 250 miles or £28 per 1000 miles.
Just stay in a car park one night and save you camp fees!
Therefore fuel expense taken care of.
Its not the final figure to take in , just the difference, between the before and after.
To put it prospective in todays world, 250 miles or 2 cups of "costa a lot" coffee! You decide.

We are not thinking of reducing our trips, we have booked 18 Days traveling Norfolk & Suffolk, two week after that we are doing Yorkshire, Northumberland & then Dumfries & Galloway Castle Stewart, Haltwhistle, Barnard Castle, lastly Pateley Bridge then home, three weeks in all, also 4days in Devon.

We're not cutting back. We have a trip to the UK planned, then one to Valencia, one to somewhere in Italy and possibly Portugal.

Will still use it when I want as that’s what I bought it for. Fuel is never going to get cheaper as the years go on so if your going to cut back on enjoying your motorhome now as the years go on its going to be sat in your drive a lot. (y)

Just a note, it’s the rich OAPs on a fixed budget, hit hardest.
The working Man can a least rise his prices to reflect market conditions.
Thats the self employed working man ..

The real working man is the one the self employed one hires

And probably where the self employed man will save money

We have a trip over to Belgium in June and until have taken the decision to keeo closer to home, lucky as we have Peak District, yorkshire Dales , North york moors fairly close.
Couple of weeks we stopped at Chatsworth site, maybe a 20 minute drive and we had a great time .
Still exploring , but closer to home.

It’s not so much the fuel it’s the campsite fees some are ridiculous that’s why we don’t use them, Haven site 11th March 5 nights for £35, heated indoor swimming pool, all facilities.

I notice heating oil has rocketed up this week too, I paid 59p a litre a fortnight ago same company now want 75p. I wonder how much extra profit is there for them in that price?

We booked our crossing Thursday, normally the tunnel but at €360 + dog it had to be the cheapest being DFDS €253 including dog, it won't make a big difference on our travels on where we go, but it will make a huge difference on what we spend while we are there. 😁 Bob

Nothing will be changing for me trips will still go ahead.
no plans altered.

the prices of everything are going up it something again we have to put up with.
I doubt much will go down again.

we don’t have loads of money and never will but we bought the Moho to use and that’s what’s going to happen.
if prices doubled again our intentions would be the same but more than that I am afraid it would be less trips .
