I was looking for ideas from other Funsters on how they keep their fridges cold during the hot weather.

My tips are:
1. Fit fridge fans externally at vents
2. Place fridge fan in fridge.
3. Put fridge on hook up before leaving home.
4. Place 2 blue freezer packs in freezer and alternate moving to fridge whilst away to keep temp. down.
5. Fit an external temp. gauge so you can view temp. of fridge and freezer without opening door.
6. Pull out awning when hot to provide fridge with shade.

Any other tips you want to share?

Thanks
Toady

Renew the paste on the plate at the back

That and your number 1 and 3 is all I do and mine freezes cucumber in the fridge part 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Decide what you want from the fridge before you open the door, they dont like you looking at stuff with the door open deciding what to have 👍

Don't do what Mrs Poppycamper has a habit of doing... She goes in fridge/freezer then leaves door open whilst she tries to decide what she wants to take out and THEN leaves doors open while she arranges everything on counter.....GGGGGGRRRRRR...
Infuriates me.😡😡😡😡

Or do what we did by second hand tiny fridge off friends daughter from uni for £30 and have it outside for beer. The site we were on charged £30 a day for a fridge. Also we are lucky our new to us moho fridge is much better than our old one even made ice cubes in 30* plus.

Prepare ice cubes at home and insert into moho freezer compartment prior to departure...we use the tap water fill bags but other systems are available.

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
Instead of freezer blocks or ice cubes (wasting space?) I freeze a couple of bottles of milk at home and put them in the freezer/fridge before leaving.
They've always still been frozen solid after 5 to 6 hrs off hook-up when taking the ferry.

You’ve missed the main one

STOP OPENING THE BLOODY DOOR

This is especially to my wife 🤬🤬

Also removing the fly mesh on the grills has quite an effect I’ve found.
She likes messing about in the fridge, drives me to distraction usually when we’re cooking too.
Keep a freezer block or frozen bottles of water in the freezer at all times.

If you’ve got a pvc when you open the sliding door for more than a few minutes open the window to let the hot air out from between the van and the door.

I thought about that myself as they seem to offer a significant resistance to the air flow. Have you ever tried to put then back on when troubled by insects?

I’ve not been troubled by insects. I removed the mesh, but now put on my winter covers when parked up (as in when at home, not in use), so that covers the grills when fridge isn’t in use.

I know what you mean. They open the door wide then start deciding what they want. Drives me mad!

Glad we have a compressor fridge, sounds a right palaver otherwise.

My fridge luckily is on the opposite side to the sliding door.BUSBY.

I do that using these. Better than making ice cubes, as they make your drinks looks pretty, can be used again and again, and don't dilute your drinks :)

If you have aircon does that improve the fridge performance or is it the heat at the back of the fridge that causes the trouble?
