The Westys are off to Scandinavia👍👍

Well an uneventful two days, we have done two days travelling (230mls a day) and did some admin washing tidying etc and now we’re parked in Averøy. Mrs westy has decided she wants to go and meet the Moose’s in south eastern Sweden so we plan on doing a bit round here inc the funny bridge, we’ll go and see if gerainger is busy, then we’d like to do route 7 towards Oslo then into Sweden.
So tonight’s park up is here👍

I have to say the scenery is spectacular, keeping within the ever changing speed limits is a Pia I think my rear brake discs will be lucky to make it home🤞🤞🤞🤞

Again, I'm gobsmacked at the speed you are travelling. Slow down a bit and explore!
I know nothing, but suspect you are right.

We haven't done Norway etc, and I had to check when this trip started.
FiL did it, going round Kaliningrad and took almost 3 times as long

There’s nothing to see between arctic circle and kristiansund, we’re here to see the bridge then might pop down to gerainger we have to be in eastern Sweden in a week or so🤷‍♂️👍👍
We’re not here to explore we’re here to see the things we’ve always wanted to see👍 we’ll never be up this way again👍

It’s not exactly like Germany or France where there’s a beautiful village/town every 5km🤷‍♂️👍😁😁 every town we’ve been in/through is like Dawson city😉🤣🤣🤣🤣 it’s not my cup of tea, the scenery is breathtaking, no doubt of that, but the towns are 💩 to walk/look round

Much of Iceland away from the coast that we have been travelling through for the past couple of days is desolate and open, with not a tree to be seen, just resembling a moon landscape with boulders.

If you slow down a bit, get onto the minor roads, take ferries over to some of the smaller islands, and put a pair of boots on, I think you'll find there's plenty to see.

A handful of photos taken between the Arctic Circle and Kristiansund on our two most recent trips - 2024 and 2026.

I really hope you slow down once you reach Gerainger and the western fjords or I'm sorry you will have appeared to have wasted a great opportunity to see Norway, especially as you don't plan ever returning. It's a spectacular country, even in the rain, but you're missing it travelling 250 miles a day.

Ps. I hope this comes across as intended, as helpful advice, rather than criticism. 👍

A big part of the enjoyment of my MH touring holiday is the actual driving.
The road between A and B most of the time is mostly naff so get the miles done and get to B.
Of course there's alway's the exception.

How on earth did that happen? The ground doesn't look that unstable in the photo. Poor guy.
That’s what he thought, he stopped to take some photos of the river opposite (he’s a photographer) and sunk, but in his inexperience he tried driving further forward to get out instead of putting it in reverse as soon as it started sinking🤷‍♂️
To be fair he was a lovely old chap and was 80yrs old, and we wasn’t going to leave him in case it got dark before help arrived👍

You’re not selling it to me so far Ade, I am hoping you find some good spots for us to visit as part of our planned trip for next June .

Exactly, I went from Lincolnshire to Nordkapp and back in 17 days in my LandRover Defender (old style), to celebrate retirement, and every new corner was a wow! moment. The views through the windscreen were simply amazing. I managed to include the Trolls road, Geiranger and the Atlantic road. Nothing wrong with a good road trip, certainly one I will never forget.(y)

What’s wrong with these Norwegian engineers, can’t they build straight bridges🤷‍♂️😁
