Do not know about the 2019 specifically, but the step on most Autotrails have a fuse ( older ones the fuse is in the EM50 unit, later ones I think it is in the main Sargent unit

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
Or just disconnect the wiring plug near the step.

It can be done from the control panel above the door. Go to Sargent website and you can download manual which has the info.

Or just disconnect the wiring plug near the step.

If you do, Wrap/seal/lubricate, the connector ends, or they will seriously corrode, and IF you change your mind it will be a bigger job to return to operation. R-V ones have a dedicated fuse in the panel, and a switch to isolate if necessary, Usually if you kerb park by a high kerb the step comes part out and blows the fuse and has been known to kill the motor over time.

I prefer a free standing step too as it's not as steep as the electric one, however we haven't disabled ours as we use it when stopping for a short while at supermarket or garage etc. It's too far a drop not to have some sort of step but it's also too much of a pfaff to get the freestanding step out. If you disable yours it means that you will always have to use the freestanding one even for those short stops ..................... and also to remember to bring it in afterwards. Can you not just put some tape over the button so you don't inadvertently press it? Or am I missing something?

The older EM50 used to have various jumper options which could be changed along with central locking. The attached should make this clear. Not familiar with modern Autotrail electrics.

Worth pointing out to other Autotrail users that the polyfuse in the EM50 was often the cause of step retraction problems.

Which panel do you have.. ??
There is an advance menu system, so you may need to acces that.. Been a while since i had my AT so hard to remember the details.

example.
"To access the advanced settings, on the home ‘EC300’ screen, press and hold the up and down arrows together. Continue holding these buttons until the screen changes. To scroll through the various settings use the up and down buttons. To change a setting press the select button (left arrow). "

Step Automation
NONE – This turns the electric entry step automation feature off. LOCK – This setting will cause the electric step to be retracted when the vehicle doors are locked (by the remote key or the button on the dashboard). UNLOCK – This setting will cause the electric step to be extended when the vehicle doors are unlocked. BOTH – This setting will cause the electric step to be retracted when the vehicle doors are locked and extended when the doors are unlocked. This is the default setting.

Hola,

AT just don't update the manuals by the looks of it. My step does not retract when the vehicle is locked by remote or dash button. AT tells me this is because there were too many accidents where folks had fallen on exit because they had forgotten (or didn't know) that the step had been retracted.

There has to be a fuse to protect the circuit ?

Have a look under or around the step for a relay, you can disable there?

My Winnebago had a Notice on the Door, which read (in RED) CAUTION "Check step is deployed (out) before stepping out, after opening door". (y)

I assume your step is automatic, ours has a switch to open and close, but it closes on its own when you turn on the ignition in case you forget about it.
