If you are taking a pet out of the country for less than 5 days, am I right that I can get them seen by my own vet prior to travel?

I want to go away on the Thursday night and Return Sunday.

Never heard of that one, you'd need to check the website. There's a link from the Eurotunnel website.

Drop them of here, Paul...

Plenty of room to chase around, then you don`t have to worry.. (y)

Never heard of that Paul.. As far as I know you must have the pet passport and the rabies injection prior to travel

from Eurotunnel site https://www.eurotunnel.com/uk/traveller-info/pets/

Your pet (who must be at least 12 weeks old) must be vaccinated against rabies. There is no exemption to this requirement.

Yes, it's even covered in the regs somewhere. You go to your vet and they do everything you get done when returning normally - worming and fit to travel check. You then hop over to France buy your cheese and wine etc and providing you return to UK within 5 days all is well. :)

sorry, @scotjimland @Figaro not sure I made my post clear enough.

They have pet passports, vaccinations etc. I would be travelling within the 5 days so why could I not see my own vet in the UK?
why would I need to see a vet on the continent in any other country.

Just be aware that if you do it before you go if you get delays or decide you want to stay a little bit longer you may have to do it again.

I've done this a couple of times. It's so much easier and cheaper to use you own vet when you are only going away for a long weekend.

To try and maximise contingency we try and visit our vet on the way to Folkestone. That means if we are going on a Thursday evening until Monday afternoon (usual long weekend for us) we have until Tuesday evening to get back if there are travel problems on our normal Monday early afternoon return. Absolute worst case for a very long delay we would need to visit a vet in France and have wasted the £10 our vet normally charges to worm both dogs.
