Easter Jaunt 2025

Cobleland. Legendary site. Stayed here in a tent in the 90s and the whole site was swaying round 2 guys with guitars playing Oasis songs. Now that we are old gimsters ..its still a joy. It has a sauna (book online) a relaxed check.in policy...whenever. Pitches in the woods. Pitches by the river. Pitches in the meadows. A bike tool station where Fatmrg went all dewy eyed over the free use of allen keys (why are they called Allen keys ?) A selection of screwdrivers , pliers and spanners. Dug...

What a beautiful journey on B roads from Inverness to Fort Augustus. Fatmrg sweating like a pig avoiding both ditches and range rovers, whilst I cry - oh look at the scenery. Ahem. Stopped at the viewpoint above Loch Knockie, and marvelled at the amazing view and the fearsome wind. Arrived in Glencoe - at the wrong site and was so discombobulated that I left my handbag in their office. A very very kind man followed us to the correct site and saved Fatmrg from a nervous breakdown. The C&C...

Having done every touristy thing to be done in Inverness over the years we now take the more relaxed approach. Torvean is a great wee site by the Canal with great walks into the town via river or canal. The sunshine is glorious. Can it really be too hot to sit outside the van ? After exhausting Shirley the inexhaustible doodle by throwing the ball a thousand times, we stroll into town via the Ness Islands. Beautiful, peaceful. Easy walking. Lunch by the river. If only we hadn't run out of...

Left the Broch in glorious sunshine singing full bung to U2 ..and we still haven't found what we're looking for. Stopped in Banff for elevenses and a chance for Shirley to show her quality to a wee Jack Russell who showed interest but couldnae reach. Scoped out a possible free camp spot near the Spotty Bag Shop. Lunch in Spey Bay. Hunners o bairns whining/shrieking and desperately seeking dolphins. We found a quiet bench near a couple of other old codgers, and had a competitive picnic - I'll...

Left Hamilton 10am. Sun shining and heading for Forfar. Stopped at Glendoick so Shirley could leap about like a shorn lamb with her new haircut. Fatmrg had to do a 37 point turn to get out of the car park and we were so freaked out that we left the step behind. Sigh. Arrived at Forfar Lochside CAMC or rather arrived up a tiny street following satnav and had to repeat the Glendoick exit performance much to our chagrin. Site is lovely. Sun still shining. Ravenously fell on our ham pieces and...
