We returned from France last week, and on our return were reminded by virtue of a phone call from the Gov.UK that we had to quarantine for 2 weeks. We had spent a month in France, conscientiously self isolating and taking care, for our own sakes and for others. We stocked up a little in France before we left, which does seem at odds with this, but the stocks in the supemarket were not great, presumably due to local panic buying. We had only been in 3 supermarkets in France anyway during that month, the rest of the time was spent on aires, socially isolating, no need for contact with campsite receptions and toilets etc, and only used our own shower and loo. We did not come into personal contact with anyone. When you see the videos of youngsters congregating in UK town centres and ignoring the rules, this quarantine rule by comparison does seem unnecessary.

Now our stocks at home are running low, yet we are still not allowed out. I do think we should all follow the rules for the sake of us all, however stupid they may seem. But during this week, I may well find it necessary to shop.

Thanks, but no Iceland around here! I have tried to get home delivery locally with no luck. Besides we don't need that much, it's only the fresh stuff we'll need, milk, fruit, bread etc. TBH, we'll probably last out, it's just the temptation to nip down the road, half a mile only to Tesco or Waitrose.

Were you not aware of the possible difficulties of quarantine before you went. You could have stayed in the UK like most of us have. We would all love to get abroad but we decided to stay put for the common good.

Tesco and Sainsburys also seem to have lots of home delivery slots nowadays. Cost between 50p and £4.50 depending on time of day. Minimum spend £40.
I have just booked my Waitrose Christmas delivery for December. The slots are going fast. ;) :giggle:

Yes we were, hence the French shopping trip. Fresh stuff don't last.

We used Tesco’s half way through our quarantine.

Book a delivery from one of the supermarkets if poss in your area.

Interesting. We did buy a box of prepared meals that you do not need to store in the fridge, and can stick in the microwave. The first one we ate was tasteless, can't even remember what it was, the second was a casserole. The only meat was just 3 lumps of solid fat. Yuck. In the bin for the rest, unless we starve!

We're not free to go out until Tuesday, had an Asda delivery last week, then a friend brought us a loaf. Don't you know anybody?

It`s another "rule", and it has a purpose, all very well and good. And yes most responsible persons follow it. But when you look at the way those of us who ARE making the effort. And compare it to the Mass Partying going on combined with the behaviour of some other groupings. You must get to the point where you say, "What the F**&K". TBF, in the O/P`s situation, I would be inclined to have a one off Masked and Gloved visit early morning to a supermarket. He is more likely to GET Chinese Virus, than give it to anyone else.

On a personal note we have been in major Social Distancing Mode, with minimal contact with anyone, since 1st March. And watching the Stupid behaviour on the T-V, really Pi888s me off

If you are self isolating for the 14 days the perhaps check out the actual guidlines/rules:

Specifically, you are allowed to leave your home under specific conditions, e.g. food shopping if unavailable any other way.

So long as you add a few grand into your weekly shopping costs they're not messing with fines these days
All it takes is a nosys sod on your street

Very difficult to understand your problem (if it is one) We have been shielding since March without making a fuss

Are you by chance American and a trump supporter?

Asking for a friend .
IF , as he states he has been very careful, and one had no valid reason to doubt it?. Then there are more people in the general population who are infected OR have been in a "contact" situation than He.

As for the use of "Chinese Virus". That is EXACTLY what it is. It IS the 3rd (at least) to originate from there in a Decade. The Chinese Authorities are at least complicit in it`s spread to the world at large. And that without consideration of any "conspiracy" theory(s). Your life, freedom to roam and liberty, not just mine, are at risk because of their unwillingness to "Come clean" earlier than they did. Instead they actually conspired to condemn the First Doctor to suggest it and (I believe) even Jailed him.

That was reported by CNN, earlier in the year, who are not exactly Trump supporting.

No wonder they have just renewed their nuclear arsenal and completed their own independent GPS system, maybe they think people have it in for them.

But Trump ALWAYS accuses CNN of Fake News.

You can't have it both ways - Gordon
