I feel sorry for the owner of the Laika who lives in this area but obviously is oblivious to the peril his van is in. We were parked beside it this afternoon when we arrived.

The pompiers just came to say they think the water should recede now.

At its deepest is the entry to the car park which is a bridge over the river or rather what was a stream earlier about 8 feet below the car park

not long enough
we once woke up to find water half way up our wheels, or rather the straw tide mark left was that high, by now it was just above the tyre depth

we had parked at Blayes on the harbour side aire, pleased to report that we at least can survive at least 10" of standing water without ingress, hopefully you have similar clearance or moved high enough to a avoid any issues (y)

When we went to Blayes the aire was under water so we stayed at the site within the citadel

You would not know there had been a problem last night apart from the mud in the car park.

Glad to see things are easier for you.
We are intending to leave the Loire and head up to lower Normandy but our hosts say that the whole Brittany and Normandy area is "shut down" because of heavy storms, this was accompanied by much shrugging of shoulders!
This could of course be Gallic pessimism.:D2

Search for flash floods in Morlaix on YouTube and I'm glad I was no closer to the town Centre!

France can be a miserable place in the rain on a Monday with no roadside services for a coffee and you go off into towns advertised and it's all shut.

Found ourselves not far from Mont St Michel so decided to revisit after about 35 years!

My have they changed the access and the parking! I remember parking out on the beach but it's all very commercialized now but good value to park with free park and ride bus and entry for a Motorhome of €17.20 compared to a car at €11.70. Still selling tat at exorbitant prices to keep the church in riches.

On our way to Normandy beaches and have stopped for the night at St. Lo.

I seem to have developed a bad habit of getting my left finger slightly over the camera lens so will try to avoid this in future!

We are just outside La Rochelle, weather cloudy but we haven't had the storms reported elsewhere. I don't think we will follow you to Morlaix. We were at Mont St Michel a couple of years ago, absolutely heaving. We cycled from campsite at Pontorson (we were camping with family) then walked across bridge.

Is there a reason why you were only a few miles from Roscoff to Plymouth ferry but driving all the way to the tunnel to get home in Devon?

We did check the price of the ferry for a shortcut but they wanted £290 one way. I quite like the drive and the tunnel.

We are at Omaha beach and its misty and windy. 74th D day anniversary tomorrow. Lots of Americans about and more Willeys jeeps than you can shake a stick at. The attack was at low tide and I paced over 250 yards from the waters edge to the shore. Moving stuff!

Went past all the beaches but all the Aires rammed so we crossed the Pegasus bridge and are at Merville-Franceville-Plage and have just had a blow out meal at a French Fish Restaurant. My wife had a burger and chips!

Last nights aire was next to a beach that gets used a lot for kite surfing as it's windy. Today we moved on and went to Deauville where her lady ship saw a market so we stopped and had a wander. The market was again disappointing but Deaville has a famous history and some outstanding buildings.

After Deauville we went around Le Havre, aimed for Dieppe and ended up a bit further on at Le Tréport which has a large aire up by the funicular railway up on the white chalk cliffs above the town. Nice cliff top walks and views down on the town. €6.40 per night plus a bit more for water at the borne which is at the top site which is all Tarmac. We are in the cheap seats on grass/gravel below but quite adequate for the night. We are aiming for Cite Europe tomorrow with a tunnel crossing early on Friday morning. Relentless rain again today cheered up by a sunny spell when we arrived here at Le Tréport so we could have a walk and sit out in the sun for a while.
