Got the first week of October off and planning a quick run to northern france, just been looking at ferry vs chunnel etc and they want £30 per dog on P&O, same for irish ferries and DFDS and the shuttle want £145 for all three!!

I mean the dogs stay in the vehicle in all of them, I must be spoiled with not being charged for them going to Ireland and back I guess.

I assume it is to pay for the pet check in system and associated paperwork, staffing, running the building etc.

May well be, as I say never brought them abroad other than Ireland and never been a charge so it never occured to me that there would be to be honest.

Plus you will need an AHC for each dog unless you have eu passports

Normally £20 each dog on the tunnel and £15 each dog on the ferry.

Adds up when you have 3

I'll just do as I normally do ...give them some food and a pet and remind myself I have enough . Can't save them all
I know, it would break my heart too, but like you say we can't save all the animals in this world. Some people dream of retiring to Spain to just live on a cheap campsite. My dream is to retire to Greece or Spain to run a dog/donkey sanctuary, watch this space!!

Despite being a former pet owner and love Both dogs and cats, you have reminded me why I no longer want one.

I recall pre-brexit looking to take 8 people in our minibus. Taking a Dog was more expensive than a person

I don't think ill be taking them to be honest now, not bothered as I originally only got the passports for between UK and Ireland when visiting the family.

That is an unusual cross-breed, never seen one of them.

Dogs are now £22 on eurotunnel....well they were on when I went to their online booking on Monday?

You could get goats instead as many offer 'free kids travel '
Sorry 😞

Please don't leave your dogs in the vehicle on a ferry. It's a very noisy and scary environment for them. Lots of banging and clunking and a LOT of car alarms going off for the entire journey, despite people being told to switch them off. You will not be allowed to visit your pets to check on them, either.

'Kennels' are available on ferries but they're only rows of crates on top of each other in a cramped environment. Pet friendly cabins are, by far, the best option for your pets.

Passports or AhC? Because you have to travel within 10 days of getting an AhC
It’s £22 per dog on the shuttle, not sure where you got £145 for three from 🤔
Three dogs return would be £132🤔

15 quid the other week. tunnel has always charged more & when confonted hide behind " it is what defra charge"
çNo it isn't,defra aren't involved in any way apart from making the rules,

Checked the same crossings with and without dogs, £145 is the difference.

I always leave the dogs in the van on the ferry and they are fine with it.

Basically I've checked the same crossing with dogs and without dogs and there was £145 difference.

Just realised that CAMC do a 10% discount too, though again, checking with and without dogs it's still £90 for the three dogs in the vehicle. I guess the dogs aren't members of the CAMC lol
