To be fair it’s only an issue if you get pulled by the police or a traffic warden spots it .I think it’s a €100 fine.
I wasn't aware ....I probably drove through a few blissfully ignorant ...

Technically the people who are saying you socialise before you are in the UK are correct (imv) However, I suspect that HMG will ignore this viewpoint and "consider" you "home" once on the ferry.

It would be nice of them to say so to put peoples mind at rest.

It is only my viewpoint and not a fact I am afraid to say and i havent seen anything to confirm either way
Using the ferry, not the tunnel, you are to self isolate as you are forced to mix with other passengers as against the tunnel where you are not allowed to get out of your vehicle between check in and arrival at the other end so no in contact with other people. We did this at the end of August, cancelling our ferry crossing and stayed the final night in Germany where we bought enough fuel (full tank) to get as far as Bicester Tesco near the shopping village. Immigration at the French Tunnel end enquired of us where we stayed and fuelled (and we had printed proof) so was more than happy to send us on our way.

I stopped in Aachen last year with my old hymer ...didn't know anything about environmental zone and certainly haven't heard anything ....
The umwelt zones are apparently only enforced by police not cameras, you have to be seen in there and bothered to do anything about it. We havent had one for the last 9 years and have visited Germany a lot.

In fact does anyone know any UK MHer who has been fined for it?

No, furthermore some German neighbours with an older van we spoke to said they take no notice of the umwelt zones and as yet have not been stopped or fined.

I worried about this last year and after seeing your recent thread bought a sticker off the internet it actually cost me £18 and lasts for the life of the MH or until it’s damaged or falls off the top right hand corner of the windscreen. Cheaper than a fine (and you never know) but more expensive than buying it at a garage in Germany. You need your V5 whether you purchase it here or in Germany. Technically you now need similar badges for the other European countries. I think essential for MHs who use city centre Stellplatzs and Aires as we d, if you don’t and always stay outside then probably you wouldn’t need one anyway

AHH ..I'm in Luxembourg planning to enter Germany tomorrow ....this could be interesting
Tam, not long after entering Germany on the A1 Autobahn, there is a parking/service area which is being used as a CV19 testing location, should you wish to pull in, if not directed in. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Agreed, That quote was from August 16th on page 1, when it was unclear, it became clear fairly quickly after that.

I'm in vianden and planning to head to trier today as I wish to head along the Moselle to Frankfurt and then follow the Rhine east

Not sure I'll pass any testing station entering this way but I have been testing myself daily anyway

We ve traveled widely in Germany for many years, staying and visiting all kinds of places and never been fined or spoken to anyone else who has.

We came back from the Mosel last week. Loved it. Love Germany, love the people, wine, beer, food, weather (mostly) scenery.

(Deutschland Tourism - do I get my cheque?)

Next year is back to Bavaria if all is well with the world.

Due to travel from Aachen to the Tunnel, leaving tomorrow morning. Bearing in mind that it's Saturday, which route is likely to be best? We're tempted with the Mons Lille route, but it looks as though there are road works.
Any recent experiences, please?

Yes. Mons route has roadworks so your delay is a gamble. The Brussells route is probably going to be quieter being the weekend.

Six of one etc......

We did Brussells with no real problem.

we came back Wednesday Mons Lille route roadworks was ok steady 40mph will be less trucks at weekend,
Given that, I would do Mons then.

We sat in Aachen debating exactly the same question. Chose Brussells. 6 and 6 !!

It's beginning to look like Mons, then. All down to chance, but we've got plenty of time to get to the Tunnel.

We came through Brussels today at lunchtime, heavy congestion but no real stops, we looked at Waze before making a decision on which route to take. Brussels was correctly suggested.(y)

After a couple of sunny days in Freiburg we have moved to Lenzkirch near Schluchsee. Cooler, damper and overcast. Staying on a nice, friendly little site. Fantastic bike trails through the Black Forest down to Titisee. Off to Lindau SP on Bodensee tomorrow. Everywhere still fairly busy. Confirmed Schwartzwaldkirschtorte addicts now!
