Are on board gas tanks or refillables a thing of the past..????

With so many garages NOT stocking gas and having pumps removed, are they worth it.. ??

Most camp sites and forecourts stock bottled gas ....

Morning, that’s what I was thinking when I designed my van to have no Gas at all, I had spoken to a couple of guys in the industry who said that the reduction in LPG pumps would start soon (this was 2019) because cost over use numbers didn’t work. they make more money renting space to a coffee machine.

New fit outs on garage fire courts are not fitting LPG and putting in EV points instead.
Who’s going to hang around a garage forecourt for six hours whilst their battery car recharges?
We’re not far from you our nearest town is Keighley I can’t think of one EV point in the town. Can’t think of one in Bingley either.
There are at least three LPG pumps in and around Keighley though.

It’s mainly to do quick 20 min charges whilst you have a brew and a sandwich from Subway

3 stations within a few miles where we are in the UK.

2 stations in Jávea, Spain.

We run a LPG converted car and have refillable bottles on the motorhome.

We have never run out on either. Always plenty of LPG points on our travels. When one bottle runs out, we start to look for a filling station. If we are heading anywhere for a longer period, just make sure we have two full bottles.

As we tour overseas a lot, calor is no use to us. That and very expensive.

Dacia have recently launched a bi-fuel vehicle and I can't imagine them doing so if they thought LPG was not going to be readily available. There is a market for LPG and a profit to be made from it so whilst there may be a reduced number of outlets, plenty will still exist.

You're not buying another MH are you Mo!

I fitted an underslung LPG tank essentially for our foreign travels and to gain locker space.
We have not yet run so low on gas that we have to panic trying to find somewhere it fill up, we normally just top up as and a fuel station with gas is on our route.

EV'S are the future not LPG, in a very short while there will be no petrol/diesel filling stations in towns and cities because ice cars will be banned from entering, oxford already has plans to ban ICE cars as does Bristol.

About fifty years time maybe..

You’re right they are the future. It’s a shame really. I do like having options on which fuel I use. When there’s only electricity what is to stop the suppliers deciding to put the price up ten fold? It’s not like we’ll have any other fuel sources.
As for EVs they will be just A to B modules, no soul. I guess that’s progress.

There are two fast chargers actually in Keighley. The Morrisons one has 2 x 50kw charge points, which would charge most cars from 20%to 80% in 1/2 hour
But if you are not looking for them ( like I am not looking for LPG) I could understand why you wouldn't know that they are there

How easy to fit to the 175?

That’s half an hour to put 60% in. I can fill from empty to 100% in about 3 minuets. I don’t fancy hanging round the supermarket car park for half an hour to get just over half my battery capacity.
Still I suppose some would call that progress.

Some are only using cars as transport. Some are more petrol heads and like cars for there sporting abilities or their off road abilities or the way power is delivered or sounds. With battery cars all this is gone.
If you just use a car as an A to B module the battery cars are ok for you.
If it comes the batteries being the power for motorcycles it will be time to give up for me.

Its interesting that your position goes from
”its 6 hours and there are none in my town” to 30 minutes is too long “hanging around” in such a short period

EV adoption will not be mandatory for many a year yet

Strange you can’t see it my way. 30 minutes for just over half a tank?
The six hours is to charge it from empty to full on a not so powerful charger.
Still, if you think 30 minutes to fill to just over half a tank is progress then I guess putting diesel/ petrol in now must feel really fast.

An interesting question but I'm not sure if having one fitted to my 175 would save much space. I have 2 x 6lt Gaslow bottles (the biggest that could be fitted) and the space left if an underslung tank was installed wouldn't, in my mind, justify the cost.
Fingers crossed, I have no issues in finding LGP pumps and expect them to be still around by the time I have to hang up my ignition keys.

The program that was on TV revealed that several of the motorway charging stations were ,"out of order" so tried the next only to find the same,so had to come off the motorway to find somewhere to charge. Quite stressful apparantly when you are running low on power.plus as said you need to have a coffee to while away the time whilst it's charging so not a quick charging experience .Home charging stations were around £800.

People who don't plan or those that drive until they fall asleep?
