We were sat this morning, saying that for the 1st time in 28 years Van Bitz won't be exhibiting at the Peterborough show, and we got talking about things that we have done in the last 28 years, which seems a lifetime away.

I was 29 years old, much thinner and had a head of hair! Is there anything that anyone else has decided to give up or not bother with after 28 years?

I gave up arguing with my wife. She thinks that she is always right. Wouldn't want to spoil her delusion

Loads. Including.......
1. Giving up my mooring in Chichester harbour after 29 years when the Birmingham Navy and Hooray Henry's (all the gear, no idea) started charging around the Solent and the Channel.
2. Ironing polo shirts. The creases drop out within 10 minutes of wearing.
3. Getting my kids to turn off unwanted lights in the house.
4. Trying to get the microwave to stop when the pot handle's facing towards me.
5. Trudging around muddy motorhome shows looking at stuff I'd never need.
6. Expecting a site's showers to have been designed by someone who had actually used one.
7. Expecting French drivers to signal at roundabouts.

8. Being a grumpy old git. ;)

I like number 4 and didn’t you make an error with number 8.
I thought that you’d intended to say that you’d stopped ‘Not being a grumpy old git’. In other words, that you had now started being a grumpy old git! (y)

No Ian. No error. It was a (too?) subtle attempt at irony in view of my previous 7 grumps. ;)

Crickey that must be 1991:eek:

I got married for the first time that year and qualified as a solicitor.

Looking back, I shouldn’t have bothered with either.

I am so pleased to find out that I’m not the only one trying to achieve No 4 (y)

1991 I became a daddy, became redundant and somehow paid the mortgage at the interest rate at that time, I started cryptic crosswords, I was still crying over our exit from the 1990 World Cup, I gave up all my sports coaching qualifications.
