@Just smiffy , sounds like you are working your way down slowly, may catch up with you but our ferry is not until next Sat.

Don’t know where I’ll be Lenny, but once I get level with the top of Spain I’ll be going across to Portugal... slowly again so it will be likely you’ll catch me up..(y)

Port de Dinan is a great aire.

From memory it's a pay and display with a really clever machine that will gives you credit for any coins you put in, even the smaller cent coins will give you a few minutes.

"Even the smaller cent coins will give you a few minutes" How sensible. I got a £30 parking ticket in a small town in Dorset - can't remember where now - for overstaying although I had put in 20p short of 4 hrs-worth and returned with 20 minutes to spare. It was not pro-rata, which I presumed it was because that's what I'm used to. What I paid only got me 2 hrs. The rest didn't count. A policeman pal said "Send them a cheque for 20p and bin the ticket". I tried to do it the sensible way, by appealing to commonsense and being reasonable. No good. Ended up paying £80 for that 20p shortfall.

Red Baron shot down here..JPG

Great post Figit. I shall trawl thru your aires and make a list. I like a bit of 'aimless wandering' myself but nicking your aires might constitute 'research' The shame of it!

One thing I would say, as a pro snapper of 30 years, is although big can be beautiful it would enhance the posts of your so-called 'aimless wanderings' if you reduced your photos. For the purposes of your post and others similar, reduction to 750/100 pixels on the longer side [rest in pro] would be ideal.

This shot of the fields where The Red Baron came down after taking a Lewis gun round in the chest is only 319 x 194 pixels and 12.7kb. But it does the job.

This is what 500 pixels on the long side looks like. Only 1.03 Mb. Paella gigante in the street in Valencia.

Ain't digital great! In the original image there was a crowd of about 10-12 people in the 'hole' in the shrubbery on the far side, right front.

"Obsession with free aires" & "... wandering aimlessly with the sole purpose of looking for free aires seems very odd to me". Comments not just odd but bizarre.

It's clear from his posts that Figit is not obsessed with free aires and is not "wandering aimlessly" looking for them. His blog reveals a marvelous selection of places most of us would love to go to - certainly me.

Many more miles of "aimless wandering" to you, Figit.

That's our rough plan may get across France in a couple of days but if the weather is nice may hang about in France.

It’s warm throughout the day, a bit fresh in the mornings though... will probably be at twin lake in a couple of days..

No Don’t need to my missus let me have air and jacks :)(y)

Could lift myself out of trouble (y) but have now identified a hard area opposite the church parking that I am happy to risk

In fairness to me even the locals were parked against the wall as well (y)

Nice thought though.

We are at La Mailleraye now, parked beside @FIDGET , on the grassy bank.
Most of the year it’s quite OK as there is stone beneath the grass and it drains very quickly. We often come here in the winter but then always park against the wall at the back.
The bit opposite the chapel is the flattest and was part of a jetty at one time so is very solid.
Since they installed the barriers the French can’t get out of paying so it’s not as busy as it once was. :D

Richard.

Have they filled in the gap between the last post and the river?

In February there were quite well worn tyre tracks going round the post, possibly the water people from the sewage works in their vans, but if not a brave move in a MH to avoid a few €'s o_O

Not the gap between the posts and river but they have put a cable and hanging chains across before the barrier. That also stops FLT’s parking on that gap for free.

Had a couple of nights back in UK at Folkestone cc site , lovely campsite but access to it a bit hairy!!, down a track of sorts ( one vehicle wide) for about half a mile or seemed it . Not many passing places and quite a lot of locals drive up and down the lane to take their dogs for a walk on the beach. Site is about 100 yards down a track to the beach , last photo is this morn view from or hab door just a little after sunrise.
