I am sorry I am a practical person so I vote white. Keeps the heat down in summer.

I am as well Karl and kind of agree (y)

Going to do the test I said about a few pages back with the red paint once it arrives, then decide.
Then we can hopefully argue about it over a few beers

Northernraider I like that blue (y)

If it were just my choice it would be on the shortlist, but it isn't. I've been told no green, blue or yellow and like an easy life ;)

Agree that the red ones look a bit postman pat, but the red I/we like is a lot darker. I spent a few weeks parked next to one last summer and loved it.
Have you shown her the blue one, it looks really, really good, better than any of the others IMV.

I've been surprised since having a silver van how it's much better camouflaged than a white one. If you stealth camp I think silver and black would look good ( but I'd probably go for mustard).

Silver would be my second choice. BUT it is a very hard colour to diy paint I believe.

As this will be Wissel's ideal camper if he paints it silver it could be his "Silver dream machine"

A light grey would be a good alternative especially with the graphics and black windows etc.

I figured I may as well.

She saw the blue image and said "nah, too girly". I was scrambling for my keyboard to let Tam know

Then she saw the last blue image (Blueliner) and, amazingly, she likes it and wants me to order a sample (y)

Northernraider - I know the colour is Dodge Ceramic Blue, but can only find US paint codes. Don't suppose you got as far as finding a paint code that is recognised in the UK?

If not, does anyone know how I can get a paint code?

All I can find is this:

Year: 2015
Colour: Dodge Ceramic Blue
Code: PAG, MAG
PPG 936229
RM 909698
BASF 90969
Autocolor: 1A7E, 1A7EB

Practical means boring.

The very main reason for a self build is to avoid those boring all the same looking big white boxes. Roofrack with solar and decking , maxxair fans and windows and any van can be kept cool

White Is the last colour on earth i would paint any vehicle

I would vote for the Blueliner Blue also, as its like RAF Blue to me.
One thing though, the high gloss finish on that van really shows all the vans imperfections, small dents all over it.

I would have thought that any decent paint shop/supplier would have the scanner to get the colour you want, I think vinyl graphics companies use the same tools to match colours.

Yep its an American colour ...but

I checked with buzzweld and they can do it in raptor which is what i had planned.

But any good paintshop should be able to mix that here.

Its an awesome colour

Now Claira is being a little more flexible on a possible blue I thought I may as well see if I could find a Vario in RAF Blue Grey:

I do like it. I don't think that's Raptor but hard to tell from that image. It does look like a matt finish.

I've ordered a matt and a gloss test pot to see how it looks.

I like that this would be quite a tough paint, easy to apply and easy to touch-up when needed. The matt would be forgiving to small dings as well I think (which will happen - this is being used).

Cj didn't use raptor he uses rustoleum . It doesn't have the same protection as raptor and its a smooth finish . But yes it can be rollered

Thats why i was going for matt too . Less worried about scratches if you can touch it in yourself

Another option would be to go for a plain white paint job. Let it harden up for a year. Then next year you could vinyl wrap it a new colour. Any colour, in fact even the red you have just decided against.
You could change the colour every year if you wanted. But can always fall back to white and it will be white when you come to sell which you may find easier.

Oh and Vinyl protects against scratches as well.

Farmer guy I know lives next door to a permanent traveller's site (an oxymoron if ever there was ?) He was after some paint to do his farm buildings and one of the occupants took him across to two shipping containers. Mike said "Two containers, that's an awful lot of paint ?" the bloke replied " Ah but, the one on the left has interior paint in it, and the one on the right has the outterior paint ! "

When I wanted two locker door repainted on the rv after I damaged them, the paint shop said the only way was to send the fuel cap cover away to a company that specialised in matching the colour, the Winniebago colour number meant nothing to them. They did that and then had the paint made up and sprayed the door.
Around £500 for 2 doors.
It was a perfect match.

Wissel i think you should be able to get the PPG code over here, I’m guessing this cos Harley used to use PPG paint and we could get it over here, I can’t remember where from and I’m sorry it’s a bit vague, but might set you off in the right direction

Thanks Tam, I really like that Rustoleum Paint,it a better finish than Raptor, much smoother & easy to apply, its not too expensive either.(y)
Here's a picture of CJ's van, without the trailer, you can see him applying the paint on his videos, as I guess many know.

Yeah the difference being raptor if applied correctly you can hit with a hammer and it won't scratch or chip.

Rustoleum scratches the same as any ordinary paint
