No, all there is on the bottle is a tin disc below the valve which has 'Test 20' and '17 00'. Nothing else at all.

Well that's thoroughly confusing.
Calor website: 7.3 to 10.9kg
Gellyneck: 4.1 to 5kg
SandraL: Lbs and Ozs on neck disc. Mine says '17 00' which if it means lbs converts to 7.7kg

Hmm, I'll have to check it when empty.
Odd that the (same shape/dims/design) cylinders should have widely differing tare weights.
So according to the Calor website a full 6kg cylinder can weigh anywhere between 7.3+6kg and 10.9+6kg. So according to the bottle disc the empty cylinder weighs 17lbs although mine, when full must weigh 17lbs + 6kg
Bit of a muddle, innit?

Yes,their website is useless.
Surely it wouldn’t be too difficult for Calor to put a guard on the bottles?!
Maybe someone with an empty one will answer for us?

FYI
A “small” Safefill weighs 3.5 kgs empty and 8.5kg when full
Costs £5.50 to fill
Was a no brainer to me

The reason I'm endeavouring to discover their contents is because I have two spare 6kg Calor Propane which have been in my shed since I fitted a Gaslow refillable system 2 years ago. I've no idea how full/empty they are and I plan to give them to my son use them up in his caravan.

Variation could be due to the amount of crud in the bottom
that would screw up any weight calculations up totally:Eeek:

That’s Calor being their usual helpful selves! Why pounds and ounces when they are sold in kilos? Folk much younger than me probably can’t convert it anyway! 🙄

Trying to establish how much gas is in my part used 6kg propane cylinder, (red colour, steel) by weighing it.
The Calor website says an empty cylinder can weigh between 7.3 and 10.9kg. Such a wide weight variation of 3.6kg seems peculiar and doesn't help much.

https://www.calor.co.uk/shop/all/gas-bottles/propane-gas-bottles/6kg-propane-gas-bottle.html
Calor Sell the gas in kilos but the cylinder weight on the aluminium collar is in pounds and ounces. It’s not helpful when they don’t state the units! Worse, they show it as (in my case) 17.14 but it isn’t a decimal point so doesn’t mean that, it means 17lbs 14ounces.. 🙄. Remember there are 16ounces to 1 pound...
1 pound = 0.45359237 kgs.

I've got a couple of 6kg Calor propane stored in the house garage (after changing to refillables). I must have weighed them full as there is a note attached which says 10kg FULL.

Interestingly, the aluminium plate says 9 12 (which I assume is 9lb 12oz) on both bottles which converts to 4.42kg. So....I've been short-changed by 0.42kg of gas

Furthermore, the base ring shows info in metric, 14.5 litres gas and tare weight of 4.42kg (which comfirms the 9 12 marking).
