I have an RS endeavour, I paid nothing like as much as the guy driving his. Also that same lovely chap that only frequents the £60 pound a night park so he can "mix with the right people" amazed me. How could he see where he was going with his head lodged up there.

I just wouldn’t be able to pay a deposit in the fear they would go out of business yet again, how many times have they gone bust leaving huge debts. I appreciate this has nothing to do with build quality. But on an overall picture, not a company I would want to do business with.
I bought an RS Endeavour, hands down the best bolted together MH ive had. I was also concerned about the history of company when we purchased. I had a lengthy chat and all my fears were satisfied. The after service has been superb. A few teething troubles with my new to me MH and sorted it quickly and without fault, So happy with them Ive traded in for the Elysian.

I was surprised that Iveco driver felt he had to stay on C/camping to meet with the right sort of people, I thought one if the best things about about Motorhoming and camping in general is meeting all sorts and not knowing who or what they are.
I have to admit that I was put off a bigger rig after watching a couple roll up to a walled garden site in Northumberland in an N& B and spend 40mins trying to park on grass , then spending the whole weekend sat in the thing watching TV. I didn’t see the point. At least we in our little PVC could drive off visit places see the sights, take pictures, have a snack and return to camp later.
Each to their own 😉
Don't know why it took them 40 minutes to park but once we are sited we don't move the van till it's time to go home or move on, we don't spend all day watching TV in the van but I guess if thats what they enjoy so be it, but you are right that you might use a larger van differently to say a PVC that is why for us a decent garage was important so we could have bikes/scooter etc at our disposal, once we are "away" we would rather cycle or walk than drive.

This couple didn’t use any sort of vehicle to travel away from site, the garage was taken up with. Loungers and a big dome BBQ none of which were used.
Just seemed a waste of being mobile, but I don’t throw their circs.
I love being able to park up near where I can go and watch Otters and other wildlife, the TV firmly remains at home.

It is a fair bit of ancient history now - must be around 10 years ago. How many companies haven't had difficulties in this arena over the years. To my knowledge no one lost out as far as getting what they ordered at the time - I know, because I was one of them. They took my N and B Flair as deposit, went through the whole restructuring and still delivered my van as promised.

People have long memories but why not look at their current trading rather than hark back to 10 years ago? Visit the factory, have a chat with them, see just how busy they are. They don't push 3 motorhomes a day off the assembly line - and for that, I am thankful. They also have probably one of the best after service guys I have ever dealt with in Adam.

The day we were due to ship our second Elysian to the US for a 6 month trip the Dometic air conditioner failed. Figuring we would want it in North America I pulled in at RS on the way to the docks. No chance of a replacement so they removed the unit, Adam stripped it down, put it on a test bench and after a couple of hours identified the problem, resolved it and they reinstalled it so we were on our way. That was 4 years ago now. I think staff retention shows something about a company as well and it doesn't hurt to be on first name terms with the people you are spending a significant amount of money with.

I don’t think it’s a case of how long ago it was, it is more around frequency. It was certainly not a one off occurrence was it? Perhaps customers were not affected, I know nothing about this. However, I do know a few companies who were left out of pocket and many who will only do cash up front before doing anything for them in fear of same happening again.
We can all make up our own minds. But given the amount of times the company have folded, regardless of how long ago and the criminal prosecution debacle, not a company I would do business with.

Just checked it was 2017 last time they folded

Best bit of the of the programme for me was the Bradleys touring, that's the sort of thing that we would love to do. Park up and walk to the beach. The rest just seemed to be people with more money than sense flashing it around and saying look at me! look at me! . The pillock who claims to of had 14 in the last 14yrs and spent (wasted) 1million hasn't a clue what he wants and his latest was pug ugly. If he's that picky its amazing he's still married.

The round the world off road one sounds like an amazing adventure. But the interior looked more like a vets consulting room. 10yrs in that doesn't sound appealing. And the hab area moving independent from the chassis was weird. Better make sure everything is stowed well 😀

By the end of the show the GF still said there isn't anything on there she would prefer to ours. I'd swap ours for something with a garage and a bit more power but apart from that suits our needs.

I think you are mistaking the splitting of the business into Sales and Manufacturing companies - nothing to do with going bust

Administration = bust in my book. You don’t call in administrators to split a business.

Quote from article in 2017 in provided link:

“RS Motorhomes has been bought out of administration, with 45 jobs saved at the builder of luxury motorhomes for the leisure and motorsport markets.

Sarah Helen Bell and Steven Muncaster from Duff & Phelps were appointed as administrators of RS Motorhomes Sales (South Yorkshire) Ltd last month.

The insolevency specialist sold the business and assets to RS Sales Nottingham Ltd with all employees transferring across.”

Yes, I remember that pillock one year at Newark, about 90 Funsters stuck on a field We'd had snow and then a big freeze he spent around 4 hours on the Saturday night in horizontal sleet and was back on Sunday towing people out, jump starting batteries, replacing batteries. Not a single tip accepted. He's the same pillock who helps us print our journal each year that we give free to members, the same pillock who advertised with us, when no one would because there were only a few hundred members. And what a pillock, he only donated about a grand's worth of prizes to help get our mag off the ground.

Sounds typical. Your sales contract will probably be the sales company, which will probably have no assets for their customers to call upon if it goes bust. All the assets are likely to be with the manufacturing company. No problem for the banks because they will have fixed and floating charges on all of assets of both businesses along with intercompany guarantees.

You don’t get that service when you buy a new Hymer everything was a fight that much so I did most of the work myself when I got the parts from them.

That is generally true.

I believe for all the manufacturers - none of them pay for or take ownership of the base vehicle until immediately prior to the registration of the vehicle itself i.e. when it is complete and ready for handover.

No I'm not, I'm talking about going bust, fleecing suppliers and starting afresh with no debt. When searching for details I found they had been talked about here before even fraud mentioned. Looks like they even owed money to club members!

Slightly OT but last night there was also an episode of Rich Holiday Poor Holiday on C5 that I also watched.

The rich family with 3 young children ended up spending about 6 nights in a rented Bailey MH on a quite basic site in Anglesey.

You could clearly see that the husband, after emptying the cassette (filmed in close-up, nice for viewers) didn't replace it correctly in its compartment. Came his wife's turn to empty it, and there was yukky mess and paper sloshing about in the compartment when she pulled the cassette out. Eww.

The rental company must have been delirious about the publicity, but maybe less pleased with the state of the MH when they got it back ...
And she nearly killed one of the kids with falling crockery  That was a close call.

Agreed, the body movement was very scary. I‘m wondering where they are planning on taking it?

Many military vehicles like the one shown last night have body movement to allow better handling in rough ground - they might have a 3 or 4 point torsion-free chassis so the vehicle can twist in response to the terrain. Without it, the chassis would be under immense strain as one or more wheels loses contact with rough ground when the suspension can no longer cope. If this strain or twist was transferred to the cabin or accommodation quarters, it would cause significant damage.

This also stops the
