Lots but slow learner.
Of course it's a genuine Honda pump, not a snide.
And i did confirm that if the bike don't start after this that they can return the pump.

Was curious, so checked. They're not being too greedy

And check the bill to make sure they don't add VAT to the parts bill

Bob, I had a similar kind of problem with a BMW K100 and it turned out to be the fuel gauge sender unit, which also supplies power to the fuel pump, the power lead to the pump was shorting to earth inside a sealed resin block. A new sender unit fixed it.

All above my level of mechanical understanding.
Bit surprised a Honda product packs in after less than 4 years or 8k miles.
And of course it's out of warranty.

Update
Episode 9

They wont contact me so off i toddle 20 miles to them (wanted a ride anyway).
"So, what's going on then, can you take the time to give me a update on my bike".
"We only have 1 Wing specialist and he's not in today, he only works 3 day's a week".
"Oh nice, i say".
"He did tell me on Thursday that it's NOT the fuel pump that's the issue but still doesn't have a clue what's wrong with it".
"Oh dear i say that's unfortunate, you have had the bike for awhile now and you still don't know what's wrong".
"I will call you tomorrow with a update once i've spoken to him".
"Would appreciate if he could treat it with some urgency now as i have sold the bike and the man keeps asking when he can pick it up"
"Will do, talk to you tomorrow, bye".

What can one do but tut and walk away.
Propper fed up with it now. Be glad to see the back of it.
Businesses today eh.

Modern dealers are terrible, I had a problem with the central locking on the woosh bang door the main dealer could only guess what the fault was. They kept the van for a week, it was only after I went to see them and agreed to pay for the solenoid even if it didn't fix the problem that they did the work.

It seems to me that if you want a proper job done you avoid main dealers and big firms. They seem to employ fitters,as opposed to mechanics or engineers.
Find a guy who learnt about vehicle electrics by starting out doing motor rewinds, doing recon dynamos and ignitions. Find a good engineer who knows what it’s like to take a gearbox to bits and reassemble,or just listened patiently to an engine to tell if the valves were worn.
Yes,I know some of these things are unnecessary nowadays but if the “ technician” who is working on your pride and joy doesn’t have these foundations they just rely on guesswork.

Find a good engineer who knows what it’s like
When I returned to working as a car mechanic after years as a photographer I was in a small workshop as no main dealer was interested in someone who had left the trade years ago. A car came in with a damaged gearbox the boss found one from a wreck that had a damaged case, he asked me to get the gearbox out of the car and said he would send them both away to have one made out of the two, he was surprised when I said I could strip both down and rebuild it. That was 40 years ago, maybe I was one of the last to do an old fashioned apprenticeship.

Ok so it’s still going on eBay then?😁😁
Obviously I have reduced my original bid price due to the serious faults you have declared 👍
Think i've mentioned, it won't be going on Ebay.
You do need a bike bike to park next to that big bus you have  (y)

Sorry If I am wrong or missing something on The Wing not starting, but even if the fuel pump was kaputt, why did the engine not turn over on the starter?
If the engine turned over on the key, and then did not start, then one might look at fuel starvation or ignition electrics etc
How could they possibly know it was the fuel pump, without the engine not turning over trying to fire up?

I suspect it might have been to kick the problem down the schedule a few more days because it doesnt sound like they can be arsed.

If I could go back in time and asked my younger self if I would ever pay £900 for a fuel pump? and for a motorbike!!!!!!!! Everything has gone nuts. One thing for sure I will be steering well clear of Bill Smiths.
