Any one know what the switch with the fan is for ,it doesn’t appear to do anything ,on or off ?

I’m not an expert, but I think it may be for a fan................:p

It is indeed for the rear heater. On our Swift there is a small radiator with a fan under the driving seat with louvres pointing out into the hab area. Very useful if it's cold when you're on the move as it keeps the hab area lovely and warm.

Just switch it on then go hunt for a fan. (That is, of course if your van has one fitted............... I didn't discover it for 5 years!)

I believe it's something to do with the Alde heat exchanger system. I have one of these switches on my Hymer but haven't played with it yet to find out what it actually does!

Read the frigging manual.
Wow bit aggressive that comment ,what’s up with you.believe it or not I have looked in the Manual to no avail but then I’m obviously not as bright as you.

What’s this for?

I think it turns on the "Ice Cream Machine".... (y)

Don’t know if your fiat manual is the same as mine but it has it on page 72.

Can’t upload a picture of the page at the mo but the blurb says

Supplementary rear heater. Panorama and Combi versions are provided with main plus (optional) supplementary heater with control located on the headlining above the second seat row.

To turn the heater on press button F (that’s the fan button you’ve shown) on the control panel.

Oh - and I’ve just found another reference to it on page 52 and 53 which says it’s for a supplementaryheater and that it should be in for fast demist and that the supplementary heater is set under the drivers seat.

Crikey - now that I’ve looked it’s referred to on even more pages. I’m actually trying to find the instructions for changing the time as mine is 7 mins slow.

No Brian, not aggressive - just repeating lots of similar posts, as you had not told us you had looked.

Just like my computer expert friend says 'Turn it off and on again.' Maybe I should have put my post in ' '. Sorry.

It’s to do with the heat exchanger under the drivers seat. We have one in the Laika. Ours you switch on and there is also a two speed fan switch on the side of the seat base. Dog is always catching it as she retires to bed in the front footwell.

Taken from Fiat Handbook page 40

ADDITIONAL HEATER (for versions/markets, where provided) On some versions, an additional heater is also present beneath the driver's seat. The fan for this heater is operated by means of the button F located on the control panel fig. 75. F MODE 75 F1A0305

Right, thanks for the constructive answers and after a second look I have found it in the hand book and it does appear to be for an additional heater which is supposed to be located under the drivers seat but I can’t see one and with ours being captains seats would it be possible for it to be fitted or am I looking for something that’s not there?

Mine (Chausson Allegro 97) has captains chairs and has the under seat heater fitted. The switch for it is identical to the one you have shown. Hope this helps.

Not all models were fitted with it, although as the switch lights up it ought to do something. Don't see how captains seats would cause any problems, the heater is beneath the swivel mechanism.

Thank you Terry I will have a good look tomorrow(y)

Can you actually see the heater or not?
Thank you

That switch is genuine factory, not an aftermarket.... Unless of course Fiat etc have started fitting Alde heat exchanger units in the off chance the van may become a motorhome.....but I don't think so some how. :D

Thank you

You can see the heater. It fills the under seat space beneath the drivers seat. There are louveres on the rear of it. It is fairly efficient and does make the rear of the Moho warm as you drive. I presume it is heated by the same system as the cab heater.

You won't need to see it Brian.... It controls a fan therefore its BLOWN AIR heating.... You'll feel it.
Thank you John sorry to sound so anally thick:LOL::LOL:

On my Frankia the heater wasn't below the drivers seat...not sure where the fan/heater was located but there was two truma type vents in the rear lounge seat and when you pushed that switch when driving you got hot air out of those vents but only when engine heater on
The rest of the time it was alde heating in the rear

Our ladt van, a Laika, had an extra fan heater under one of the bench seats in the lounge. This switch activated it but only when driving. Very noisy but it did make the rear quite warm for when you parked up. Our new Hymer does not have one but as it is significantly better insulated and has none of the draughts the old van had, it seems the extra heater is unnecessary.:)

Have to agree just having the truma water heater on in my hymer and not the heating is keeping it warm at the minute ...the wardrobe in particular is very cosy
