Hi Funsters, me again:D

Something's popped up that's not to far away from me (which is a rarity itself). It doesn't tick all the boxes as there's no large fridge or bunks at the rear, but could compromise on some things for the right van. The chaps a Gas/Heating engineer and having spoken with him, he sounds refreshingly as OCD as me when it comes to looking after things. It's got a few tasty extras inc aircon to front and rear, solar panel for batteries, rear camera (I'm amazed at how many people don't bother with these), and of course being twin floor it's winterised which is great for our Scottish jaunts.
Has anyone had one of these or can comment? It does a look a big bus for some parts of the highlands, but our old Sprinter was the extra long wheel base too

Small engine for something that size. The engine has been chipped so seller must have found it a bit slow. Do you really need something that big on small lanes. Tag axles are not the easiest to reverse.

The 120bhp isnt right, they left the factory at 128?? ish and were normally chipped to about 160, he may have chipped it because it has the taller top gear option.

Euramobils of that era were pretty good IMHO - much better that the modern equivalent.

The biggest problem I would have with it is layout, no usable fixed bed and no garage. So where do the bikes/scooter go? Would you end up making up the rear bed every night? unless you need beds and seating for 7 or want somewhere to have parties in

Good looking van, I love my tag don't be put off by the size, cabs are all the same and the bit behind you just follows wherever you go. Very good price for a 2006 reg with that mileage.
Enjoy the search :D:D:D

That's what I thought, the place he took it to said it had already been done and there was nothing more they could add - I personally think that means they probably put it on the rollers and didn't want to touch the ECU which is quite common for tuners on older vans. The 120bhp is probably a true reading, with it having lost a few horses over the years.

Fair point re garage, we'd want bikes in there at some points for the kids - uh oh...could be the first stumbling block:X3:

We had an a class eura mobil on a Mercedes for 5 years could not fault it, the build quality is very good, I seem to remember Karl Gromett having one like that. :cooler: Bob.

Yup back in 2007 I had an 05 Model. I had the 770HS and it was fantastic. Best van I had seen.

It was 4,500KG tag axle and had around 1,000KG payload.

Loved that van. Well engineered and designed. Quality.

We have a Butsner 747 tag axle, holds the road really well an to be honest, we have been in some tight spots, like most C classes of thise size the lock on them is not great.
But I would recommend a tag axle to anyone for comfort

Only consideration and looking at the price, clearly it would appear more than 2 people will be travelling in it????
If so, as someone as already mentioned, there is very little storage, part of the reason we went for the 747 was its huge garage and side lockers,
meant we could travel with our 2 teenagers and still have clear floor space, often we wake up early if heading south, leave the kids sleeping, use toilet, make a cup of tea and be on our way without destrubing them

You can get good 2005 ish Burstners for around the same price if storage is improtant to you.

I don't know how much you are compromising but at the money you are willing to spend, I am not sure you have to make to many compromises, altought we all do in someway, even those buying large Concordes

Eitherway, great van and best of luck

Gromett - this is the same model. How did you find it for storage? As some have pointed out it's a bit lacking due to no garage

hdj42 - thanks, some great pointers there (y)
There's 4 of us, though our little one are little - soon to be 2 years old.
We used to have Campervans before they arrived and have been looking forward to introducing them to the great outdoors:)
Will have a look at Burnsters too - do they come as bunk beds?
Many thanks

I found it to be great for storage. Basically there is 2 floors. And in between there is storage except for waste tank and fresh tank etc. Runs the full length of the van.
I bought it to full time in.

Not going to get push bikes in there, but for most other things, plenty of storage.

It's a really nice van with lots of options - convert the rear lounge to bunk beds on one side and storage on the other - redesign it to what you need ?
