We attended the ceremony at Ypres on the 100th anniversary
of the battle of Ypres in August 2015. And a part of every ceremony was a story of a soldier who died in the battle. The one the night we attended was about a 24 year old army officer
who had been in command of his troops for three hard fought months. And he was due a two week leave,so was handing over to another officer when he was shot through the neck and killed by a German sniper!
It was very emotional, and I would say you would not attend a ceremony there without getting a tear in your eye!
