Motorhoming since 2018.
We were planning to have a few days away down in the new forest next week, before parking the MH up for the winter. Looks like Boris has put the tin hat on that. I know technically we've got until midnight on Wednesday, but as Jenny said, it would be irresponsible and unfair on the good people of Hampshire to set off tomorrow as we'd planned, with things clearly getting out of hand just about everywhere. So it looks like I'll give it it's final washdown of the year instead and park up for the winter. Like just about everyone else on here we'll have to write this year off and look forward and hope that we can get back to some form of normality in 2021

Would that be Chinese boris, the one who cooked up the virus ?

Just home from a week away , perhaps the last of the winter. A fill up with diesel and a wash and drain down and wheel covers on , sorted.

Lets hope so :pray::pray::pray:

the good people of Hampshire
Aye there one or two! Looks like our first taste of overnighting will be on the drive!
You are allowed out for recreational purposes - so could you drive to the Forest, park up and just talk to the ponies?

We had booked next weekend away to try out our new motorhome, in Harrogate so going from west to North Yorkshire. site decide to close as West Yorkshire and Lancashire moved into Tier 3.

booked a site within West Yorkshire. And the rang this morning as they have made the decision to only accept those in their dale, and being in Airedale we weren’t so cancelled.

now looks like as van is in storage the vanquishing it’s cherry run won’t be until 2021

keep Motorhoming, keep safe

"You are allowed outside in public spaces with a member of your household for recreational purposes"
Surely I can moho the the New Forest with Mrs Keep Right On, picnic without talking to anyone else or even getting out other than turning the gas on and be legal

No.....I don’t think you can!!!
You can only leave home in very limited circumstances - and motorhoming isn’t one of them.........(n)

Well, we have our hab service and warranty work booked later in November, it's already been put off for 6 weeks and our warranty first service requirement was only extended for 2 months which runs out on 6th December so we're now wondering what the hell we do! Whether we'll be allowed to go or now I haven't a clue.

They are only "advising" not to travel, so nothing to stop you, during the initial lockdown, I think it was "essential" travel only, and very few got stopped, so I think you should be safe to travel now.

From the gov website:

You should avoid all non-essential travel by private or public transport.

Essential travel includes, but is not limited to
  • essential shopping
  • travelling to work where your workplace is open or you cannot work from home
  • travelling to education and for caring responsibilities
  • hospital GP and other medical appointments or visits where you have had an accident or are concerned about your health.
If you need to travel we encourage you to reduce the number of journeys you make, walk or cycle where possible, or to plan ahead and avoid busy times and routes on public transport. This will allow you to practise social distancing while you travel.

Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed- including holidays in the UK and abroad. This includes staying in a second home, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with.

The decision might be taken out of your hands if the dealership closes.

good question: call the dealer, exceptional circumstances and ask them to get the manufacturer to confirm an extension. I believe you should not travel for the links posted here.

It is only "avoid" so no reason why keep right on shouldn't drive to the new forest for the day.

I agree, under the controlled conditions suggested, it's not being irresponsible, it's being responsible and learning to live with the virus. Though I suspect many will disagree.

It's a shame that all those small shops, hairdressers etc, who have implemented very good control measures aren't allowed to keep their business functioning.

Any reference to whether 'medical appointments' includes dental appointments? I haven't found a reference to this and Mrs Ingwe has 2 "essential" such appointments in November.

1km here for exercise so wouldn’t be happening here.

Why do so many people want to put their own interpretation on the rules/advice to justify 'just one' non essential trip? If we all did that we might as well not have a lockdown at all. And some would be ok with that I'm sure.

It's not forever. It will pass. Be patient and if you're lucky i.e. not dead, you'll be able to travel again soon.

If you park up at home, it can still be fun to have a few days away from home, in the Motorhome, on your driveway. Not quite the same, but better than nothing. It also is a good way to make sure everything is working

I do understand the need to social distance and isolation, but what I don’t understand is the bit about transport.
No way would I use public transport nowadays but surely you stand more chance of meeting/being closer to people if you walk or cycle than if you use your own vehicle!

Not every one has a vehicle and some people will have no other option than to use public transport to go to work.

And the "we know better brigade" have their voice, oh you do make me giggle. Your representative "Doris the ditherer" has spoken on your behalf, not your behalf, but you voted for him. Not you personally, but that is democracy, but, the "we know better brigade" will work hard to find exclusions for their selfish needs ... till one day, they or their close are effected and then it will be "boo hoo"

sooooooo funny ..... NOT !!

I think dental is included however it's quite likely the dentists will be doing emergency treatment only have to check with the surgery.

It depends where you're going to park and of course you're going to use petrol stations etc. I think walking/cycling outdoors unless its a crowded city centre (which it shouldn't be given it's essential travel only) should be really safe. Not an option for me as its 30 miles each way and only 4 trains a day!

Whilst it is advisory & there is no legal enforcement people will interpretet they way they wish.
