Suzie Q and Sweet at Peterborough

For £20 I’ll give her a miss. Ska Brittania at Norfolk is by far better value for money, they had just about everyone on their feet in 2018??

Takes me back to my youff.
Saw Alvin stardust at a rally few years ago. He was excellent!

WESTY66 you must be either too young or too old ???

She never did it for me (I’m 53) but Alvin, AKA Shane Fenton back then crashed at my nans with my dad and his brother when he was younger after he’d been on at the old silver dollar dance hall at Maltby South Yorkshire. If that wasn’t enough in 85 I courted a girl whose mum went out with him back then!!

Saw Suzie Q at a festival in Upton-upon-Severn a few years back and she was really good - thoroughly enjoyed it.

You would of thought that these old ones would of earned enough when in the charts etc to have retired by now.

How many of the original Sweet line up are
A Still alive ?
B Still in the group ?

Andy Scott is the only original band member of The Sweet in the UK.

Stephen Priest has an American version of The Sweet in the States.

Connolly and Tucker have both passed away.

I never judge anymore after Sophie Ellis Bexter stole the show at the Sunshine Festival a couple of years ago, mind you there was murder on the dance floor! :giggle:

Andy Scott has (or had) prostate cancer and became very active with “Rock Against Cancer” which has run a series of brilliant concerts at a canal side pub in Wiltshire to raise funds for prostate cancer research. It’s put together by a bunch of mates from the (back in the day) music industry, one of whom now owns the pub. A few years ago they assembled The Troggs, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, Paul Young, The Straits (Dire Straits minus Knofler) and The Boomtown Rats - best music event I’ve been to, ever! They’ve had a series of big names each year since. The final concert is in September this year and there’s a great little campsite up the road.

You’d pay £20 for a tribute band these days, just go and enjoy it but -
You better beware, you better take care
You better watch out if you've got long black hair
He'll come from behind, you go out of your mind
You'd better not go, you'd never know what you'll find

She was on tv Anglia before Xmas and she lives Essex or Suffolk, I cannot remember which they said.

Shes done some great radio shows.

I didn't know a friend of mine was her backing singer/guitarist for a number of years. Just dropped it into the conversation a couple of years ago.

Saw The Everly Brothers live in Hull in 1960?, I think Joe Brown was on the same bill?. And Roy Orbison, with the Beatles as second act same year (I think)?. Johnny Cash, Live in a High School Gymnasium at Gramercy, near New Orleans. sometime in the early 70`s.

Some groups to be fair, may have passed their sell-by date. I saw the Ramones (Who?) a few years ago. They were still singing teenage love songs but now with white hair and walking sticks.
Sorry to sound negative but although they sounded Ok, I just felt sorry for them.

Went to watch the Sweet two Christmas' ago at our local place. They put on a great show.
We went to the same place this Christmas to see Slade who were awful.
