Collecting my MoHo soon, I've read loads about theft so looking at various options, ideally not too expensive. I know trackers are a good idea but they are expensive and only work to find your vehicle after the fact [burnt out / smashed etc] so lokking at options to prevent theft in the first place. Anyone able / willing to share their set-up / secrets - looking at whhel clamps / steering wheel clamp / extra door locks etc. Thanks all

Bright yellow motorcycle lock from the door handle through the steering wheel. Others also tie the cab doors together and exit through the hab door. Locking the driver's captain's chair rotated away from the driving position seems like a good idea too.

I live in a low crime area and store n a secure compound. If I was somewhere else I'd probably do more

the best way to stop a van from being driven off is to immobilise it. even a switch to turn off the low pressure fuel pump

I don't understand that.
Surely no fuel will stop it running even in the height of summer?

The low pressure/lift pump in fuel tank of certainly the Ducato, Boxer and Relay is only there to help supply fuel on startup in cold weather to the high pressure fuel pump when in the colder weather the diesel is more viscous. Ever in cold weather, once the engine is running the high pressure fuel pump does not normally need assistance from the low pressure fuel pump.

I had planned to use my tracker to cut the power to the low pressure fuel pump, but after researching doing this and finding it would for the most part be ineffective I didn't go through with it.

I've just bought a good old fashioned stoplock, a good visual deterrent to make the would be thief hopefully move on to the next.
I chose it based on the fact that any deterrent needs to be easily stored away and simple and quick to install otherwise you would tire of using it, bought mine from ebay ,they currently have a 20%discount running so only cost around £36.
I'm also thinking of installing a GPS tracker with geo fencing capability so if it gets stolen you'd get a message on your phone saying it's been pinched so you can act quickly. Both of which don't cost a great deal, next on the list is something to stop the nay do gooder getting in the van in the first place!

I've used Phantom Pro3 for years. It calls me, and home, and the wife if the van moves at all when switch on and their new Sheild even text's movement when switched off. Yes there is an annual fee, but worth it for piece of mind And no I have no connection with the business, just a happy customer. Tom

Eddievanbitz strikeback or growler plus stop lock and clutch claw would be a starter. You may find a tracker is a requirement for insurance. Depending on the value of the vehicle. You will see on heat some do not rate the. But then again you can cut through a stop lock in no time with a power tool.

I have a 'global trackers' tracker at £4 per month, also full steering wheel lock, wheel clamp and if I need extra, pull the starter relay
Make it as hard as possible with lots of visual deterrent

I suggest outsmart the thief, fantastic system and after paying out shed loads for the M/H why wouldn’t you fit the best regardless of price.

Agree with all the above but also have ProPlate fitted around both cab door handles.

As some have stated above, have a chat to VanBitz, very helpful, may not be the cheapest but highly recommended and get 10% discount with MotorhomeFun membership!

Have you tried disconnecting the pump temporarily and testing it? This is a 2019 Fiat, I'll give it a go and let you know:drinks:

Got the same, already fitted when I got this van. Shield works great. 👍

Vodafone do a tracker for £20 upfront and £2 a month. Geofence capability. Uses GPS Na mobile cell locating. Messages your phone when it moves / crashes geofence etc. Self installed little device. Hid mine under a seat. Ran a 12V supply to it so it’s always charging but has batteries for when needed. Great for peace of mind. Other than that I just have a Sigma alarm immobiliser that was fitted when I bought the van. Been testing it this weekend and found the Standard cab sensors capable of detecting me when in the rear lounge as they detect any changes in environment.

You don't need a power tool , even though I use one it can be removed with 18" adjustable or stillsons in less than 4 seconds

No need for me with the ss bar as it is the same as the doors welded up & cannot be removed even if you put the windows through & with the deadlocking on, the doors can't be opened from inside anyway.Even if you are in there:oops:
