We are arriving in Santander from Portsmouth in the evening of December 30th. Just discovered the CCC campsite we hoped to stay at is closed Christmas and New Year :(. Does anyone know of a good place to overnight before we head south?

I have been caravanning for 32 years but in 2014 I have"gone over to the dark side"
Camping Santillana del Mar about 20 miles west of Santander is good and easy to find :)

Cabercenco is good, but I was not impressed by the state of the service point when we were there this spring. Obvious that lots of people had used the drain and tap to empty and rinse their toilets. Not in a good state at all. By all means stay there, because it is a nice Aire and the wildlife park looks good, but probably fill up with water before or after!

I'm going to Santander next week, but on my m/c so it's hotels all the way for us on this trip :)

We certainly will be riding around with half an eye on a future MoHo visit.

There is a parking area, beyond the camping area, very close to the Faro in Santander that looks ok on Google Streets. The entrance doesn't appear to show parking restrictions. Has anyone used it? I had thought to use it in early November when I cross.

We're going across in mid december and we will be heading to cabarceno, this will be our 2nd stay there as we did the same last year. Very good aire with nice scenery, we never used the service points as we were all stocked up before we left and tend not to need filling till we get down to Portugal, even longer in our new MH as it holds over 300litres of fresh water which is a lot considering the others only had 135litres i think. Toilet is always another issue but we have a spare cassette if wee :) need it. :)
