Anyone experienced problems with erratic external ambient temperature readings on their van? Have a 2018 A Class Hymer on a Fiat Ducato base. Dashboard readings of the external temperature are all over the place, with minus 20C temperatures and ice warnings appearing when the outside temperature here is in the mid to high 20s. This also seems to be impacting on the AC/Climate Control, which isn’t cooling the van as it should.
Can the probe be reset or is a replacement required?

Do you have mirror guards on your drivers side. If so, this affects the temp probe. My readings are erratic too. If you don’t, can’t help sorry. 😉

Apologies to butt in on this post  We have a similar problem but ours is not an A class.

I noticed towards the end of our last trip that the Fiat dash was showing -32 degrees and giving ice warnings. Made a note to monitor the problem and put the van away. No Mirrorguards fitted at their point. Last week we had a few days away and the temperature started out at -29 degrees, came slowly up to -12 then suddenly jumped to what we assume to be an accurate temperature - around 26 degrees. We thought it was cured :giggle: We fitted our brand new Mirrorguards at this point and thought all was going swimmingly. Sadly it's not and was giving out ice warnings when the UK was sweltering in the top 30's.

So ....... is it fixable? Does it need a new sensor? Is there any hope of it reading a reasonably accurate temperature with Mirrorguards fitted?

I have just seen this thread as I have similar problems with dash reading -17 deg C when normal external conditions. Its an A Class so no mirror protectors. Has anyone any further info as to what is the fix please?

Ours had been fine, but yesterday seemed to get stuck at 13 C, then suddenly jumped to a far more realistic 19C.

You need a new sensor. You can get an after market one from eBay or even on Amazon. The OEM parts are £50+ but they are plug and play.

I replaced mine two years ago and cannot remember if I reused the connector from the broken unit, I vaguely remember doing so!

It isn't an overly difficult job, just a faff taking the mirror cover, door cards and trim apart.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube.
Good luck

Sorry I have just realised you have said you are an A class and believe the sensor is in a different location!

It is advisable to get it fixed asap as it can cause other problems that you may not expect.

Not on a Fiat apparently, Peugot and Citroens only.
Mine was playing up too and I was going to replace it sharpish before this trip but was told that the dpf does not take the external temp reading from the wing mirrors on the Fiats.
Two.weeks.into our Luxembourg Germany trip and all is fine.

X290 btw 2.3 130 bhp.

Wish mine was faulty it's showing 41 at the moment but it's correct we are cooking over here in Germany
Whereabouts are you getting those temperatures in Germany?
We're heading to Trier in a couple.of days.
Mullerthal in Lux is 30 today and they've issued heat warnings.

I found this and copied it here for information

When I was looking into my Peugeot software one of the diagnostic pages asks if an external temperature sensor is fitted or not. Probably depends on the build software.
For any one who needs a sensor the fiat part number is A0001375410080 and I paid £27.18 inc vat for mine in Jan 2022. Northern Commercials Brighouse

In Magdeburg was still sat outside at midnight in shorts to hot to sleep but a little cooler this morning.
Wow, that's hot for Berlin direction, glad to hear its cooled down.
In Trier now,
a comfortable 21 degrees after some heavy rain leaving Mullerthal.
