Don't worry, Ian. I am sure it will be all right on the night. We are all Funsters and can make the best of anything that goes wrong. I am sure there are a few booby prizes I have for the kiddies I will bring.

Can't help with the bacon - other than to help the pig escape from being massacred before it gets to that stage.:Sad:

Well being as you have asked..... I personally am not in favour of Chinese lanterns but am quite happy to give a pound for the charity that would be missing out if we don't have them

Chinese Lanterns

There is no doubt that they make a lovely spectacle, especially a good number in a group.

The problem is, they contain metal wires & the burner is metal. These drop onto fields where cattle graze. You would have thought a cow would have the sense not to eat these, but they get embedded in the grass & it all goes down together. Then the wire punctures the intestine.

Those that don't get eaten then get picked up by grass cutting machinery with very expensive consequences for the internals of that too.

There is a fire risk, but it's not the major issue & probably negligible in an English November.

I would be happy to donate £2 to the charity for us NOT to use them, rather than £1 to launch one.

There are always two sides to the issue
To be fair
I will not be promoting lanterns or fireworks at the venue
However individuals may do as they please with what ever consequences upon them selves

There is normally bingo in the main events room about 8 pm Saturday evening

I have to agree. There are numerous reports of damage caused by these.
I just feel that to release an uncontrolled object that is alight is asking for trouble.
Just my opinion.

I could be wrong Ian I often am, but have a feeling that Motorhome Fun does not have Chinese lanterns on there rally!s any more,as a rule, could be something to do with insurance if any damage was caused.

The remains of Chinese lanterns cause terrible damage, cattle and wildlife they can get the wires in their intestines when grazing or tangled up in their coats. :Sad:

Thanks, Ian. Capinpugwash is dropping Coco off for me at the meet as he is going away for a long time ............. and I am dog-sitting. I have told Stuart he is welcome to stay on my couch if he decides to stay for the weekend as he has done the same for me and other at other up-and-coming meets. This will not affect your numbers though. Really looking forward to the meet and seeing little Jay and Roger and Sheila.:thumb::thumb:

For anyone into Country and Western or just a good afternoon out, since we have to be away at lunchtime, there used to be a Fort SanAntone just near Preston which it may be worth googling to see if it is open/which artistes on that day. They sell wild west food and there is a bar and dancing. It used to be good. The Hayleys are often on there and some top acts. Long time since I have been but you may find it somewhere to extend your weekend with Ian.

The black pool eliminations are still on this week
So any one wanting to go out after dark
Blackpool is only 30 min drive away
