Spent the day here yesterday..

Well worth the €7.50 each entry including the dog.

Water has flowed naturally in the Annevoie Gardens for over 250 years, relying solely on natural differences in levels and without resorting to machinery.

The gardens are crossed by a network of surface and underground canals. Water runs down the hills beside the Chateau thanks to the main reservoir of the grand canal (400 meters in length).
The entire system is governed by the simple principle of communicating vessels!

4 Springs
48 hectares of parkland
50 water features
200 year old trees
And 250 years of continuous water flow make this a special place.
Oh and a husband who can’t read a guide map made this a day to remember.

We’d definitely recommend Namur and nearby Dinant as lovely places to visit. Both have broad cycle paths alongside the river for miles. Pretty towns with central aires.
We spent a night in the aire by the stadium in Namur which is perfect for a walk around but it was noisy with music til midnight from the sports hall. If you like techno rap it will be perfect for you!

The aire at the citadel is smaller but looked much quieter.

We traveled on into Luxembourg, very similar to Belgium, spotlessly clean with pretty gardens and houses. Cheap fuel at 96p per litre.

We parked up for the night at Luxembourg park and ride, very nice amenity with a lake and forest trails but unfortunately as it was May 1st and a bank holiday full of youffs bbqing, one night of loud music had been enough so we moved on.
With buses every 15mins into the city this would be a good place to use to explore.

Today we rode the scooter into the city and had a great walk around, what a beautiful place!

These caves are a tourist attraction and are much bigger than they look from the rock face.

Mr Mousy smiling before finding out that a coffee, salad, tart and soft drink in the modern art museum cafe would cost €30! Luckily it all belonged to the guy in front.

Huge amount of history on offer including some lovely art nouveau tiles, railings and buildings.

I wandered into the church of St Michael and was lucky enough to hear a single male monk chanting in Latin. Very atmospheric and moving although I’m not remotely catholic.

This was in the church but it felt too intrusive to have a really good poke around so I’m afraid I don’t know anything about it.

We’ve solved our ability to lose vehicles by using a dropped pin on our location before leaving! Genius!!

Onwards to Colmar...

She’s 9 weeks old here and still got the miserable face on!

We really should of called her Mildred.

Missing you guys, this trip would of been right up your street. Please tell Cliff, tap, waste and filter all working beautifully..great job! X

Of course our kids find it hilarious... and the fact we look like we are delivering pizza...
That looks like just the thing for our scooter and dog. Wondering whether our dog would fit though - how many kilos is Millie? Our Barley is about 12 kgs so may be too porky. Can you tell me where you got it from please. Thanks.

We're also in Greece (Crete) at the moment.

Edit: Just seen that you've already posted info on the box - sorry.

From Luxembourg we travelled down into France again and spent 2 nights in Colmar.

We actually stayed in a little village outside Colmar called Eguisheim, very pretty with similar architecture but not so many tourists.

It was a bargain..free or €5 euros with hook up.
Right in the centre of the village but really quiet. We used the scooter to visit Colmar but the weather was taking a turn for the worse.

watching your trip with interest, we did Greece in 2005 but did Bari to Igounemitsa as we were heading for Lefkas where we had a a boat at the time. One memory I have is the pack of very large feral dogs that roamed the port area at Bari, been a dog lover all our lives but they made even us very wary!Enjoy your trip:)

We slept under the noise of rain drumming on the roof, I always like that so long as it’s stopped and dry by morning...unfortunately the cold wetness had outstayed it’s welcome, so we moved on, south in search of the elusive sunshine.

After much debate we settled on the route down through Switzerland.

Apparently I slept through snow capped mountains, waterfalls and amazing tunnels..oops..

Before we knew it we were in Italy and finally sunshine! We celebrated with a walk in the neighbourhood of Saronno, found another church to relic hunt for @cliffandger (unsuccessfully) and a shop selling the most wonderful tomatoes.. of course we had to have pasta for supper.

We’ve now got the most ginormous storm overhead with much thunder and lightning!
We always remember Phil @Taran_Las getting struck by lightning at Le Crotoy so we’ve turned all the electricity off just in case!!

Tomorrow we head down towards Florence, I fancy some culture before lazing on beaches in Greece...

After 3 nights of incessant heavy rain we were fed up. What happened to our slow meandering trip down into Italy? Full of outside cups of coffee, people watching whilst I daydreamed about Italian leather handbags? Millie laid at our feet in the dappled sunshine being fawned over by good looking waiters?

Instead we were on the move and spending time in crappy car parks with everything shut up and desolate. Walking Millie had become a game of dodging rain showers and we were steaming through gas for the heating..yes it was even cold enough to warrant having the heating on!
This was definitely not what I signed up for.

We weren’t chasing the sunshine, we were instead moving on and letting the same bloody storm catch us up.

We stood still, in fact we dug in at San Marino, perhaps moving into a different country would give us better weather?

92EB03A2-4EA4-46E2-9968-34A603126802.jpeg

San Marino also known as the Most Serene Republic of San Marino is an enclaved microstate surrounded by Italy. It’s the fifth smallest country in the world.

And it had SUNSHINE... hallelujah!!

Actually it doesn’t just sell handbags, San Marino has some of the most relaxed gun laws in the world so everywhere are gun shops..

Along with museums of torture, ancient weapons, vampires, curiosities and more. It’s a place worth exploring but it kinda had a dark vibe to it too.

Hi it’s Pet on wheels. Made in Italy bought on amazon. Literature says up to 10kg. Ours is 8 kg but I think it’s more to do with sitting height. Don’t think a dog bigger than Millie would fit in, but she’s quite leggy!

I’ll measure her shoulder height tomorrow if you want.

It’s expensive too...

This was our cheaper option.. but vetoed by the kids..
