Does anyone have Mitchelin Cross climate tyres on their motorhome & what are your views. We need 4 new tyres and currently have Mitchelin Agilis and are looking at other options.
Is there more road noise with Cross climate tyres.
Thanks for your views.

In my opinion, no difference what so ever!

I went from Agilis Camper CP's to Cross Climate's and haven't noticed any change

I run big M/T tyres on my Discovery 3 and they are really noisy and can drone to annoyance on certain road surfaces, but the cross climate are nothing like that

Go ahead and buy them

Do you get the same mpg on cross climate as the agilis camper cp

I did the switch to Cross Climates at the end of last year. Fiat front chassis with Alko rear chassis.15" steel wheels The result.....feels much more secure on cornering...improved ride ( less crashing) ......a little quieter especially on coarse surfaces like granite chippings.

We’ve just had 5 Cross Climates fitted (replacing the 2012 Agilis Camper) fitted when we bought the van. Haven’t yet been out with them as we’re away in the car until May.

Quit a few Funsters have fitted the cross climate and very pleased with them but a few have had problems with them cracking in the first couple of years.

Anything has got to be better than the Michelins CP tyres the worst tyres I've ever come across. Rock hard ride hardly any grip when I had them I got frightened going up a hill in the wet. Changed them before the were worn out no confidence in them at all.
I fitted Toyo Observe Van, fabulous after the Michelins CP's

Fitted the Cross Climates 2 years ago and so far so good, very surefooted and not as harsh a ride compared to the original factory fitted.

Put cross climate on the front pair recently done 19k on Agilis Campers - plenty of tread left but spinning on pulling away on any damp surface!

Chalk and cheese, softer ride, less crashing and feeling much more secure on take off 😂.

Potential down side which may need some testing with tyre pressures. Passing vans and hgv seem to induce more sideways movement than previously?

I have Cross Climates on the van, nice quiet tyres, good in the wet and comfy ride, big plus from me👍

I have had problems with Cross Climates cracking , seems more of a problem on heavier motorhomes , replaced one at three years old and a second needs replacing shortly.
Ride quality seems very good , excellent grip and good wear characteristics.

I did some research on 225/70 R15 tyres. You don't say what tyre sizes you are looking for, so this may not be useful for you!!

IMO, the best 4 season was Michelin Agilis Cross climate and the best summer was Continental Van Contact 100 Eco.
That however, doesn't take price into consideration. Both are more expensive than most others.

I went for the Toyo Observe Van as then were one of the few winter/4season tyres that were not directional. I like to swap the spare around to even out the wear.

And quiet.....

Many thanks for everyone’s replies which is very helpful.

We are having conversations with Mitchelin regarding our tyres on our motor home as the walls have cracked and we have have less than 9 thousand miles (Mitchelin Agilis). We went to a local Mitchelin dealer and the manager has inspected our tyres and agree that they are cracked and has made a claim to Mitchelin and the case was refused however Mitchelin then spoke to the manager shortly after sending the outcome email and after further discussion about how well the tyres are looked after Michelin have now agreed to escalate our case to their senior manager....so we may have a positive outcome. Either way we need 4 new tyres.
We will keep you posted on this thread as to Mitchelin response.

DDJC the tyre sizes are 225/75R 16CP for a Hymer 708

I also want to apologise and say that I haven’t gone quite it’s work that gets in the way.

I hace used winter tyres (could only get town & country when I was younger).

All our motorhomes and my van I have run on Michelin Agilis Alpin Winters. They offer superb grip and I use them all year without any issues.

Recently, due to a massive price hike. I switched to Toyo winter observe.

Made in Japan. A couple of points. The initial tread depth was quite a few millimetres less than the Michelin Alpins. So I am going to see how well they last and the wear. I have posted on them before as has Lenny HB . I just wish I had gone for the higher LT load rating. As my work van is always fully loaded. I find the standard LT a little soft a reduced MPG.

Back to the cross climates. I had them fitted to our daughters Audi A3 in the UK. These were to replace her Continental winter tyres.

The reason I switched to all-season / cross climates. I Knew I was going to take it and register in Spain.

The Michelin cross-climates have been awful tyres. They were cracking before it went to Spain. In the wet, they have very poor grip. They also give a very harsh ride. I know the van tyres are slightly different. But they will have reinforced side walls like all commercial tyres. So expect a firm ride.

Found my post it’s here >>>>>>>>

I understand that Michelin are now making a CP version of their Cross Climate tyres.
They are planned to be available in the UK this summer.

They will still be directional though, and if you have luck like I’ve got, your spare will be the wrong way round🤷‍♂️🙄

Yes, you are correct.
I wonder if there is really that much of a problem running a directional tyre backwards?
Is it legal?

Looking to replace all four of my Michelin Aguilas CP tyres that have significant cracks after just 4 years and 26000 miles of use . The tyre spec is 225/75R16CP ..116 @ 80 psi. Any recommendations on a good all season camping tyre and supplier would be very much appreciated. Thanks all 👍

Here’s my post of earlier today.

German MH mag Auto Bild has just done a large tyre test and the new Michelin Agilis Cross Climate came out winner.

Rotalla (never heard of it) Setula Van 4 season RA05 came second.

It's legal as a get you home in the UK but I don't t know about other countries.
Main reason I went for the Toyo's- non directional.

Don’t know about this particular Rotalla tyre but we had Rotalla tyres on our Vauxhall Zafira when we bought it and were nearly killed when the car spun through 180° on the French A1 at speed and we found ourselves facing the wrong direction with cars coming towards us at high speed. Luckily we managed to turn around and the traffic stopped to allow this. We had a terribly fritghtening trip to the first services where we checked the tyres for oil or other damage to have caused the spin. We found nothing.
Later that evening, I searched ‘Rotalla’ tyres on the internet and found several very similar incidents as we’d experienced. The next day, we drove gingerly to a tyre dealer and replaced all tyres. Looking back, there had been other skidding and grip loss issues that we’d put down to wet roads, driving too fast round roundabouts etc. These magically disappeared once we got rid of the Rotallas.
Only our experience so I’ll say no more. But do search Rotalla incidents.

Interesting. It didn't happen when the mag did the wet weather testing. Fairly comprehensive test as you'd expect the Germans to do. Very different to how our uk mags test motorhomes. If you've got Readly it's on the list of mags.

When I purchased my Hymer I noticed slight cracking of the side walls on the outside tyres Michelin Cross climates ( 4 on the back axel ) at two years old , I have changed one at three years old and will have to change another soon.
I think the Hymer hadn't moved a lot in two years but they really shouldn't shows signs of cracking at that age regardless.

Replaced mine with the cross climate NOT Camper. Very pleased so far, handling and ride much improved.

Used Kwikfit @ £377 for a pair same size as yours.

Interesting looks like these are the tyres I need , any idea where best to source ?
thanks
