That reminds me, I need to finish my remote for the MaxxAir :nerd:

It's been at the bottom of the to-do list for a long time.

Yep, the noise is it raising and lowering the hood though. The actual fan is pretty quiet.
yup, knew that ;) wondering as I am sure my Maxxair Fan was not screetching like that opening and closing the lid?

It's a motor at the end of the day, so it will make a noise unless you can find a stealth mode 🤣 Lube the tracks regularly with say WD-40 Specialist silicon will help it not to stick, and the easier it can slide open the quieter the motor will be, as less work to do !

Yeah, I think the one that lifts the lid is basically a servo, and I've never come across a silent servo.

Can the fan still be used when the blind is closed?
TIA
Yes but not with blind closed. the instructions say that it moves the air around inside the van but to be honest it's not really that useful. An astounding bit of kit though and the main suppliers are incredibly helpful and approachable. Their warranty system is brilliant as I discovered a couple of weeks ago. I had one of the control boards from the, now corrected, bad batch fail at almost 51 weeks. They sent out a new unit the next day with photo instructions to fit. It was a doddle to do.

I fitted one a couple of weeks ago... replacing a Remis 400x400. It was a simple remove and replace job, with wiring about as simple as it gets.

The Maxxair trim is white, but everything in the van is cream. I therefore adapted the Remis blind/flyscreen unit and attached it on top of the startk Maxxair trim. This gave me a blackout blind, and a consistent look.

Lastly, some recent maxxairs have a fault. Mine operated from any remote (turn tv on, fan does something). They sent a replacement circuit board and instructions on how to swap it out. It was fiddly but didn't require any specialist tools or knowledge. My advice would be to test before you install, as it'll be easier to swap out the board before you fit it.
Just looking to fit a maxxfan and use the reims blind, can I ask how you made the blind enclosure fit? Thanks

What is that an app to operate the fan remotely ? If so can you tell me which one please. Ta Dave.
I used a Switchbot hub which sends an IR signal to the maxxfan. Easily programmable and have lots of options. We added a Switchbot thermometer and then wrote routines to keep the van cool while we're out. This also extends the fridge time on battery too as the fridge comes on much less as a bonus.
As an aside t9 a previous post about blinds. We bought the smoked maxxfan and don't need a blind at all.
The company are brilliant to deal with and the fan really is very capable.
