And there's the problem.
A bit like macdonalds
And there's the problem.
Rather than a friendly cafe in Harrogate it's now a small chain in Yorkshire and probably franchised to boot.
Betty's bought out Taylors in 1962 and the company became Betty's and Taylor.Bettys is part of Taylors Tea famous for Yorkshire Tea and Coffee.
I’m glad to see someone else read last weeks Yorkshire Post apart from me.Betty's bought out Taylors in 1962 and the company became Betty's and Taylor.
Nah... I just read it in the history of Betty's on their website while looking to see if the other sites were franchised. .I’m glad to see someone else read last weeks Yorkshire Post apart from me.
Just a trap for the tourists, keep the cash rolling in!Wife wanted to go to famous Betty's café in York what a let down from the last time we went there , almost Tasteless Scones/ Jam , Tea, which they are famous for and overpriced , Didn't realise many Locals agreed with us.
doing the same thing twice and being amazed at the same result ???????????????Went to the Betty's in Northallerton, about 8 of us in our cycling gear, the sight of the bill brought on an Asthma attack
Went again in Harrogate and what a disappointment never again yet they queue up outside in York, even in the rain
Martin
I didn't 3 for third time lucky though, Northallerton was OK actually apart from the bill for 2 cups of coffee and a fat rascal, it was Harrogate that put us off completely.doing the same thing twice and being amazed at the same result ???????????????
HOW MUCH!!!!The menus made me cry
I'd need to sell the car to buy one of the gift boxes
It would probably be someone else’s Flask as well knowing yourather take a flask)
It was sold out about 20 years ago. The quality dropped dramatically. That other "famous" Yorkshire institution, Harry Ramsdens is another kettle of fish altogether. We went to the original one during the day between Christmas and New Year and despite it being freezing we were made to wait outside. What made it worse was the fact that they were only using half of the restaurant so could have easily let us in to wait in the warmth of the other side. Then when we finally sat down to eat, all I can say is that I have had far better fish and chips at our local chippy.
There is no such thing as a "but" when talking about Yorkshire. I agree that Betty's prices are ridiculous but I only go to York when going to the hospital. Park at Designer outlet, bus pass into York then a walk to the hospital via Betty's.
