Hi after we did a retune on the Freeview tv's I found we had lost channel 86 on all our tv sets apart from 2 which have HD tuners. Channel 86 is not an HD channel so I don't understand why it's dropped. Any help gratefully received thanks. John

Try a retune again..... may have skipped past it.. (y)

Have you no longer got it, or you can’t find it?

ive just had to do a retune on mine and the channel numbers have changed. Some easy 25 is now 26, but others 76, is now 69. God knows why.

the channel has gone, we have 5 tvs and 2 are HD they both found the channel but all the older standard tvs don't have it. It was fine before the retune and my poor brain can't understand it.

86 More 4 plus 1 we often watch the French Chateau on more 4 but they recently moved it forward an hour, so we don't miss the news we switched to the plus 1 channel, we can still get it on the living room tv but not on the kitchen tv which is the same make but older and not HD. It's strange because channel 86 is not an HD channel

Perhaps this channel now uses a more modern codec that your old receivers can't process. If so, this is probably going to start happening a lot as they can squeeze more channels down the same pipe using better codecs that allow more compression, but more processing power on the receiver.

Typically, the HD channels would use the more modern codecs by default, but, perhaps, now they are moving SD channels on to it to get more channels out.

This is just a guess, I don't have satellite and have never looked very much into their streaming setup.

No 86 on any of my three tv’s now. HD and non HD

Ours go regular, retune a day later and they are back

Having searched on line, I contacted the helpline and a very helpful man went through many resets of a tv and then told me, in my area the channel I can't find is on an HD frequency even though it is not an HD channel so only HD tvs can get it. So I'm stuffed :crying1:

At least you know and it’s not anything that you have done

I'm from Yorkshire, and the tv works for everything else, also I can get the channel on the firestick if I need it so unable to reach the back pocket on this occasion ::bigsmile:::bigsmile:::bigsmile:::bigsmile:

However, is there not something happening on 25th December? Something seems to be ringing a bell.

Retuned mother’s tv and she moaned about lost channels and I checked with post code and the nearest mast had stopped broadcasting the channels.

Perhaps you have re-set the Parental Controls;-?

We have various TVs and PVRs and the older ones do 'lose' channels every now and then due to them being moved ... never to be seen again!

Pick was on 11, but I think may have moved to 34 or 35 now ... you've gotta play the 'hunt the channel' game to fine them.

As for 86 ... never visited it, other than some of the news channels I rarely go past 67 as there be 'naughty' channels higher up!! And of course the kids channels! o_O

86 is more 4 plus 1 and perfectly safe 😉

Have and older TV in the conservatory with a Bush mini SD freeview box about a month or two ago it decided that if I turn the box off or just put it in standby it looses ½ the channels and have to retune it.
