I thought that I had a slow puncture so took the wheel off, tyre ok but plenty of soap bubbles by the valve. On checking closer it seems that it's the weld between the rim and centre. I'd value any advice regarding a repair ie. welding, sealant etc.

Bathroom sealant will do as a bodge, but you need a new wheel.
Not a good suggestion as if you that you will forget about it until it lets you down.

Started looking, bit of a minefield for 16" wheels on heavy chassis and 2 different pcds for the rim
If it's a Fiat X250 or X290 The light chassis the PCD is 118mm, the Maxi chassis it is 130mm.
If buying pattern wheel (not genuine Fiat) check the load rating a lot are only rated at 1000 kg.

The rim and the centre are two separate parts welded together. So if there’s a leak between them as your picture suggests then it could be either weld failure or the wheel has a crack developing. The latter is favourite as it’s by the valve which is a weak point.

May I add to the voices saying scrap the wheel, if it fails it will be far worse than a flat tyre. Also bit worried you may be on the same bit of road as me when, not if, it 🎅

Hi Tony, many thanks but mine are 16". Busy scouring eBay for a replacement at the moment. Hope you're both well, Mike
