I think DavidG58 is spot on. If you mention it to your insurer - regardless of whether you claim or not - it will be recorded as an incident on your file and likely result in a higher premium next time.I would be deciding whether to repair it or not, then if it were me almost certainly just paying it and never mentioning it to my insurers, once you tell them you might find your premium changes even if you don't claim
How bad is it? Mine has a high level scuff that I was going to do but have not got round to, hardly notice it now
At £600 it sounds like more than just a "ding" - or is it a quote from a dealer?Hi all,
I just got a quote of £600 to repair a ding. Have never claimed before is this worth doing or will the rise in premium backfire on me ?

Once your insurers get wind of a claim your premium will rise whether you actually claim or not.....the risk just increased. My car insurance is up 40% this year & that's taking into account protected max' no claims discount, incident free driving for 38 years, a clean licence & living in a relatively low risk area with a 5,000 mile p.a. mileage restriction.
Get several quotes first & maybe ask your insurance company if the claim will put up your insurance dramatically ?

Dear Lord ! £600!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable. Here's the ding, approx 9x2" , I've also got a small one on the other side about 2" round with only slight cracking. The workshop say it's best to paint the whole quarter.
Both on tree branches whilst reversing, very smart.
It's a four year old thread. To be honest £600 sounds like a bargain. We paid £1600 in 2019 after a freak wind ripped the fiamma off the van while we slept (I know we were lazy and tired). Left gaping big holes, a twisted fiamma and new wall boards needed inside. By the time you pay your excess you’ll be halfway there anyway.

I've made a couple of claims via comfort one fault, one none fault and were excellentAll insurance companies will rob you blind. They are fine as long as you keep paying the premiums but god help you if you dare to make a claim.
Of course it is!! Why am I not surprised ….It's a four year old thread.
