Just Looking
Hi everyone,
was a member on here up until covid, when my wife was taken ill and unfortunately passed away.
The motorhome went and it was a terrible time personally which takes time time to recover from.
However without wanting to sound mercenary and taking time out, life goes on and I have found a wonderful partner who lost her husband around the same time,
So long story short we are looking for another motorhome to start again and enjoy whatever life we have left and try to have some fun.
We have both just turned 70 years old and lost our C1 part of the licence, We are looking into whether it is worth all the hassle of applying for the C1 part again (Both my previous motorhomes were tag axles 5000kg} or getting a 3500kg motorhome and just going for it.
I see there are still a quite a lot of people on here that were here when I was last a member which is testament to this wonderful forum.
Anyway that's it for now and hello from Mark and Jill.

Couldnā€™t really like your restart post, sad times behind you, good that you can look forward so positively šŸ‘

I would go down the 3.5T options for ease

Welcome back to Fun šŸ˜Š

Sorry for your loss but glad you have a second chance at happiness.

Iā€™d go for the 3.5t and get out there and enjoy yourselves.

Good luck in whatever you decide, exciting times ahead.

Welcome back I'd go for the 3.5 it will stop a lot of hassle and there are some very good vans out there at that weight.
Happy travels. :wb:

Welcome back. As a post avid motorhomer, you'll be aware of all the anomalies around payload and 3.5T vehicles, but lots and lots manage perfectly well.

Welcome back. When I turned 70 I did eventually retain my C1 but it was a lot of faff and took 10months. As a result have downsized to 3500 to avoid future grief.

Great that you are back.
Really sorry for your loss but so pleased you have given yourself a second chance of more happiness, I'm sure your wife would have wanted it that way.
Enjoy the new van, whatever you decide, and more often than not, less stress can be the more enjoyable path. Good luck.

Thank you to everyone for the kind and sincere replies.
Shame about the C1 as we both fell in love with a lovely Burstner Elegance at CamperUk , but as you sensible people have said 3500kg is the sensible way to go.
So looking in earnest at what is available, if any of you good people have any suggestions on what would or would not be a good buy then please feel free to comment. Budget of around 70k is available, possibly more for the right motorhome.
The only fixed thing we have in our choice would be a fixed bed preferably and island bed but not a deal breaker.
Realise that the payload could be restrictive so the dog is going on a diet along with me Lol.

Cheers,

Mark and Jill.
