We went to use the oven at the weekend and it went out, fortunately the wife smelt it and promptly told me off for not igniting the oven. Re lit it and watched the flame dance around as if it was being blown out. Turned out the bottle I was using was low if not nearly empty so I switched over to the second bottle and although the flame settled down it was still not what I would call Right. So on way home we filled up with LPG got back to the storage sight and tried it and it Roared well not literally but its what I would call Right.
Got me thinking should I be opening both gas valves when using a gas flow system? rather than emptying one then switching over, or should it not make any difference.

many thanks

Its a simple choice as either way should (does on mine) work well
running as you do you wont get caught out without gas, using both at once and you may, also kind of defeats half the object of having two bottles

UPDATE!!!!!!!
lit the oven put the tea in and for some unknown reason went back a few minutes later to check there was no problems!!! the gas had gone out!!! stupid me pressed the ignition button (WHOOSH)
Singed eyebrows and a very warm face later!!! very lucky though.
back to the drawing board, van now booked in to have this issue looked at, Been advised it could be a faulty gas regulator.

PLEASE PLEASE never make the mistake I made, OPEN WINDOWS AND GET OUT!!!!

Do ovens not have flame failure devices?
My thoughts too.
I'd be very surprised if it doesn't but if it does they do default to 'off' if they fail.
Never heard of a dead one staying open.
More likely a little gas has accumulated in the oven as it cooled when the flame went out and that was what ignited.
I suspect something is blowing the flame out.

The ffd will hold the gas valve open for a while after the flame has gone out, anywhere up to thirty seconds is quite normal. It is simply the time it takes for the thermocouple to cool down.
