HiDo the updates now, if it doesn't work, at least you can take it back to Halfords and demand money back. Better now than in 6 months!
We have one, been a life saver for us finding local places to put up for the night at short notice
I believe you can back them up before updating, which should be a fail safe way of ensuring a restore if things go wrong
It I bloody ludicrous that you have to stump up for extra memory, given it costs pennies to add during production.
BTW, I exaggerate our weight, height and width on the settings to ensure that it responds appropriately. My understanding is that up to 3.5 T it treats you like a normal car.
Thanks for your comments. The restore option only restores places, waypoints etc. that you have added. It unfortunately does not restore the operating system and software. We have one, been a life saver for us finding local places to put up for the night at short notice

HiAll very strange to me! I have updated twice now and the memory bar shows around 30% full. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to add 10% to the height and width dimensions!
Good luck with sorting it out.
Thank you for that. It is probably under two weeks since I updated my first 770, but maybe there is something else in the firmware of the latest 770 that is causing this anomaly, and they have not yet sorted it.Updated 2 weeks ago. Definitely got the ACSI, when travelling along the ACSI campsites were showing on screen as we passed them.
That does not make for good reading. Hopefully this is not the case on latest model and I shall enter the correct dimensions and see. I have a reversing camera (and the wife) so we shall find out.As mentioned previously, when entering the dimensions of your unit, exaggerate everything and put the weight over 3.5T. Unless you do this it will still take you down routes as if you are a car. The old 760 was forever sending me down lanes that could not accommodate a motorhome, unless you are very patient and a great fan of reversing.
The 770 will be better I think. I don't think the 760 asked you to input the weight of the vehicle so I think if you input your weight as over 3.5t(which yours may be anyway) it doesn't include the smaller lanes. Anyway, it is like any sat nav really, so if it is telling you to turn into a road that does not look suitable, keep going and eventually it will take you on a better road. It may not be the shortest route, but it will be less stressful. That does not make for good reading. Hopefully this is not the case on latest model and I shall enter the correct dimensions and see. Hi
Once again I am hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge available here.
I have just changed from my Garmin 760 to the new 770 Camper edition.
Generally a very positive move. The screen resolution is much more vivid, the unit is much slimmer with a bigger visible screen and the traffic data receiver is built into the unit, not plugged in separately.
The downside for me is that the old 760 had ACSI and MHF data pre installed on the unit. The 770 does not. This is very useful when in Europe. There are icons for both that automatically appear on screen. When it is late in the day and you are looking for a site this is extremely useful. With the ACSI sites there were photos and loads of info available once you clicked on the icon. Extremely useful.
I realise that I can get all this on my phone, but having it integrated into the sat nav is extremely useful. Without it, I think I will return it as it should not be marketed as a 'Camper' specific sat nav, which is inferior in some ways to the old model.
I have rung their technical help line. I was given advice which I thought may sort it out. However this was just a downloadable application which enables individual POI's to be downloaded.
Basically has anyone else had this problem and found a way to get the ACSI and MHF data on the 770?
That was what was so frustrating. Both the ones I had came with ACSI installed. When I did the update on both, the ACSI and MHF data disappeared. Garmin technical had no idea how to resolve this. I am hoping that this will be resolved via an update. As I said, I will be getting another one and returning it if the same thing happens again. Our 770 came with ACSI already in there. We love it!!!
We've done a couple of updates but not in the past month......not had any trouble....yet!!!That was what was so frustrating. Both the ones I had came with ACSI installed. Would a mini USB extension lead connected to the original lead maybe work?I have a 660 and the traffic does not work as I had to purchase a long USB lead for it so I can use it in the van, the one that came with it was too short. Anyone else got issues with the Live Traffic not working as says invalid power lead (or something to that effect)?
original lead is a cigarette lighter I am using a usb lead.Would a mini USB extension lead connected to the original lead maybe work?
