For the dim people on the forum how to easily become much brighter

I think that most people on the forum are bright enough to know that your daytime running lights are never on when your headlights are on so it does not matter, there is the occasional dim one with loads of money who likes to stand out though.

Ours stay on.

£115 is a lot to spend on lights that may not be used as you only use the van in July to go to France.
unless you travel through the night. ;)

Most DLR lights dim when headlights are switched on.

Bulbs don’t give out beam pattern!!! But check that bulbs aren’t upside down ??‍♂️

But the reflector can only do its job if the light source is located in the correct position.

Edit: Only spotted Two on Tour ’s response after I posted.

Of course you need a light source, remove reflector and glass n’ see the result ?

Just a small correction to keep those that know happy.

These are called lamps not bulbs.
As we all know you plant bulbs and flowers appear ??

Now back to how you were ??
You'd better let Philips know then, they call them bulbs. ?
Lamp is a device that sits on a table or on a stand.

Both correct actually ?

On the X290 Sevel vans, the headlamps are of the modern complex reflector design, where the beam pattern and intensity is controlled by the multiple parabolic reflector surfaces at the back of the lamp. When you adjust the position of the beam, it is the reflector that moves, not the whole lamp unit as with more traditional designs.

This does mean that care must be taken in the choice of replacement bulbs, as any deviation from the dimensions of the original bulb, particularly the distance of the filament from the back of the lamp, can have an adverse effect on the beam direction, targeted intensity, cut-off definition and scatter.

How many forum members does take to change a bulb..?
Did mine alone in 10mins including opening package of bulbs, taking out light units, fitting bulbs, replacing wire connector, testing them, putting them back in and closing the bonnet. I did use a drill to take the screws out so was zap zap zap zap just ensure you set your torque setting on the drill ?

This is what you see in the 2019 light unit with DRL’s, the silver one is the pull out pop in H7’s same on all 4, the white connector is the slight twist pull out indicator bulb, ensure you put the new one in the right way round, just turn on the indicator to test, if it’s the wrong way round it doesn’t come on and the other one flashes quickly. There is some kind of fake bulb slot with no wires going to it, maybe blanked off after DRL’s fitted, you will see it on the pic of the lens below.

Hope this helps anyone who would like to be brighter ?

Was that ever in doubt?

The point you, evidently, missed is that it’s positioning is critical.

I’m sure engineers that carefully design, tool up, build and sell millions of these lights around the world have no clue at all and are just guessing, thanks goodness for the forum to put them right ?

No didn’t miss it, I mentioned it earlier ? . Anyhow , you can have the last word on it

Half a dozen to discuss, one to do it and 12 to argue there’s a better way to do it :giggle: :giggle:
? Usually the case with most of the ‘ how to’s’ threads ??

Tried led bulbs on my dim hella headlights, unfortunately they made the dud bulb warning come on, even though they were the sort that claimed not to.

Thats exactly why you need to get proper ones, loads of cheap ones about ?

Perhaps the companies that produce these cheap ones don’t employ:

You do have a knack of making the simplest post insulting.
No it’s a fact there are a lot of cheap nasty ones out there that claim to be compatible but are not, I have no idea what you bought all I know is that if you had the right ones what happened to you would not happen ?

Hi 596 i was just sat here wondering if you compile a list at the beginning of the week of all the subject headings you want to start and then spend time working out how you can spin it so it looks insulting or do you do the insult first and work the heading in to that?
either way I look forward to your double entendres and can not wait to open your post to see what it is you are really talking about! ?
Hi Dazzler are you taking the peee i don't see non of 596 posts that are insulting you want to get out more.

That is pretty close to the Rule 1 requirement not to ask people to “get a life”. :lipssealed:
